Talking Happy First Day of 2007

HELLO EVERYBODY!! BEST WISHES FOR THE NEW YEAR!!

We are facing another new year - a year full of promise and hope. Let's make the most of every day ahead, striving to be the best we can be and accepting ourselves (flaws and all) while working toward eliminating any flaws we can without losing the essence of who we are in the process.

I want to share some of my favorite quotes regarding hope and the new year.... I hope you will enjoy some of them.....

"Every man should be born again on the first day of January. Start with a fresh page. Take up one hole more in the buckle if necessary, or let down one, according to circumstances; but on the first of January let every man gird himself once more, with his face to the front, and take no interest in the things that were and are past." Henry Ward Beecher

"It is difficult to say what is impossible, for the dream of yesterday is the hope of today and the reality of tomorrow." Robert H. Goddard

"We spend January 1 walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched. Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives... not looking for flaws, but for potential." Ellen Goodman

"The past is a source of knowledge, and the future is a source of hope. Love of the past implies faith in the future." Stephen Ambrose

"Be always at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let each new year find you a better man." Benjamin Franklin

"We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day." Edith Lovejoy Pierce

"Drop the last year into the silent limbo of the past. Let it go, for it was imperfect, and thank God that it can go." Brooks Atkinson

Well, Teddie, it seems like it's just you and me to begin the new year. I spent a very quiet New Years Eve at home with the kitties. Since I live in an apartment building there was some noise at midnight and some noisy kids for a while after, running up and down he stairs.

Actually, since getting sober, I haven't made "New Years Resolutions". Maybe I make a list of hopes, but live each day as it comes. It's simpler that way. Simplicity is my keyword.

May we have peace in our hearts and wih those around us in this new year.

Wink Hi citoig

Nice to see you here today.

I spent New Year's Eve at home watching TV. I had planned to meet some friends, but the weather didn't cooperate. It was so foggy that I couldn't see more than 25 feet in front of me so I called my friends to let them know I wouldn't be coming.

I don't make resolutions either -- I never have! In recent years, my New Year's Eve 'tradition' has been to say a prayer of gratitude for the blessings I've had in the past year and for the blessings I may receive in the year ahead. I also pray for renewed inner strength and wisdom so I'll be more open to accepting whatever changes will inevitably come my way, and I pray for peace and comfort for all, especially those who are struggling in any way whatsoever with an addiction.

I agree that living each day as it comes is a great philosophy of life!!

God bless everyone as 2007 begins to unfold........

Happy New Year Teddie and Citoig..I went on an AA committment with my home group on New Years Eve..One of our group members has a van so we load it up and go..It was a good way for me to spend the holiday night

I havent made any resolutions to give anything up, but I have decided to try to manage my Parkinsons better, and to try some of the alternative treatments that are out there, because I have gotten a bit worse..Its still manageable, but not feeling as good as before

Steve
