Hello to all,

I just learned that my mother had an aneurysm last Thursday. She is the last person that I would have thought this would happen to. They coiled two of her aneurysms and they had to put in a stent to open up one of the blood vessels in her brain. They also had to place a line to drain off the blood to the aneurysms to relieve the pressure from her brain. I am scared to death. I am her only child and I have not had to deal with anything like this before. I want her to pull through this; I don't want her to be a shell of herself. What kinds of things should I be asking the doctors and nurses taking care of her?

Unhappy So Sorry

Hi Motown Jazz,

First, I would like to Welcome you to Braintalk. I hope you find info that you are looking for.
Second, I am so sorry about your Mother. It can be very traumatic when our parents health starts to decline.
I have no experience with aneurysms except an aneurysm is what killed my Father several years ago but his was in his stomach. I don't know about brain aneurysms.
One of the things that I would ask the doctors is, what is her future prognosis. That will give you some idea of what is in store. Another would be, if she is capable of living on her own. Our parents sometimes get to the point where they can't take care of themselves.
Hopefully, someone will be on to be able to help you much more thant I can.
Good luck,
Linda

Hi Boopers,

Thank you for your welcome. I've asked the doctors about her prognosis and they've only answered my questions in generalities, not specifics. I know it's frustrating, since it's early in the game, but I know she has a long way to go and it'll take time. I hope that sometime soon they be more specific with their prognosis.
