Default Just wanted to introduce myself...

I'm in desperate need of support from those who have been down this road, or are going down a similar road currently. I'm struggling tremendously with drug addiction - seeking intensive treatment. In the process of scheduling medical detox for the beginning of the year...in a DBT substance abuse program...have wonderful, amazing, helpful therapists who are 150% behind me - but I'm continuously screwing up. I'm so scared, so lost, so unsure of what lies ahead.

Is there anyone who is able to talk, email, chat with me? I check my email regularly...I'll bookmark this site (although it seems it gets very little traffic)...and come back in case I get responses.

Thank you so much.

Kat

Oh - btw - Sly referred me to you guys - she thought I could gain a lot from participating here.

Thumbs up

Hi Kat. It's natural to be scared; you're starting a completely new journey. While my addiction was to alcohol, I can identify with your fear. Don't lett this fear discourage you. The future ??? Like the old song says: "The future's not ours to see." You will hear in rehab that we only have today, the present moment, the NOW. This so true. Take it from someone who has been sober a long time, sobriety/getting clean is really worth it. If we keep the right attitude, life can really be a blast without out "drug of choice"

This forum was out of commission for a long time and when it came back many of the regulars seem to have given up on it. I haven't and do check-in almost every day. If there is somebody new or one of the regulars, I will respond.

Again, good luck on beginning your recovery.

Citoig

Hi Kat,
Sorry you are struggling so much. Medical detox i don't know much about but after about a month off opioids the vicelike grip it had on my brain left. It will probably come sooner with you in medical detox? is that where they use drugs to clear your system or are you talking about going inpatient somewhere?
It may be slow here but it's worth stopping by there are many here who've walked this path before you.
Make the decision. deep down with your heart. Good thigs lie ahead.
pat
I check my mail too. drop a line any time

Welcome Kat..Yes it is perfectly natural to be scared..What lies ahead?..If you get clean and go to meetings, you can look foward to a happy productive life..Youve got to get the monkey off your back first..Please dont make the mistake of trying to do this alone

Default ditto on what steve

Congratulations KAT,

Welcome to recovery, it eventually becomes wonderful!!!!! I had a SERIOUS crack addiction and the only way I was able to get clean was lots of NA and AA meetings. Things have changed enormously, all my friends are in the fellowship, I can think clearly, I am not the person I used to be, I am defiantly am not the person I was and I am not the person I can be. Good Bless rehab, aftercare and regular meetings.

email me anytime if you need to or want to 'talk'
