Default a short update on me...

here is a brief update on me...i know that most here probably wont recognize me cause i really wasnt posting that much on bt before it went down...

i broke my left ankle a couple weeks ago...i got up to get a bottle of water, not realizing that my left foot was asleep and when i stepped down all i heard was a loud crack and then instant pain...my foot turned under and my ankle bone hit the cement floor...i am now in a cast and since my toes are still purple and my doc showed me that when he pressed on them the white indents from his fingers took longer than normal to disappear her wants me to go and have some sort of test where they put blood pressure cuffs on your legs and measure the blood circulation to my foot and toes...

has anyone ever had that test before...i have never heard of it...he told me the name but i forgot what he said it was called...he did tell me that there is only one hospital/doctor out here near me that does the test...i have to go virginia cause no other doc around here does it...

the pain in my ankle and foot is undescribeable...i take dilaudid and vicodin for my back pain but they arent helping with the ankle pain at all...my doc said that i can take some aspirin but even that doesnt seem to be helping...

Default so sorry...

Hey Pinky. So sorry to hear about that. I understand about how other pains are not helped by chronic pain meds. Once upon a time, taking 8 ibuprophens, two asprins, and two extra-strength tylenol would help if I took them all at the same time. Not advisable. A lot of drugs will not allow some of those OTC's. Anyway, even those do not help anymore. Hope your doc has given you something for that pain. Maybe Loritab?

Default Doc in Virginia

Wildpinky,

Sorry about your ankle. I live in Virginia - do you mind telling me where you're going for this test.
I hope your ankle feels better soon. What do they do for us when we have another injury? I know what we're on wouldn't take care of it? I'm going to be having two teeth pulled soon and need to ask my pm what to take for that, since I'm sure the dentist will not know what to do...
Hugs,
Kathy

OMG WildPinky,
When I started reading your thread, I thought I was reading something I wrote! This past June, I was sitting in a recliner and had my legs crossed and fell asleep. The phone rang and I jumped up to answer it and didn't realize my left foot was asleep. My foot folded under and I, too, heard a loud crack! I broke my left foot. The xray showed that the bone actually broke lengthwise. I was lucky that I didn't have any circulation problems but I had to wear a cast until the middle of this September, as the bone didn't want to heal for some reason. Finally, the last xray showed it had healed to the docs satisfaction.
I will say prayers for you that everything will be OK and your pain will lessen. I am so sorry that you are in so much pain. Please keep us posted.
Love,
Linda

Sounds like you had a housefull last night! I bet they kept you entertained to say the least. I hope your daughter and son-in-law find the house of their dreams. It's always exciting when you buy your very first house.

Yes, it's strange we both basically had the same thing happen. I was lucky with mine and hope you end up being lucky too! My doc talked about having to have surgery and pinning it if it didn't heal but it finally did. I hope your's will as well.

Take care and wishing you a pain free day!
Love,
Linda

Unhappy

Wildpinky,

I remember you from a while back. I to have not posted for a while. Man, I don't even want to imagine how bad that hurt. I'll just be praying that you heal fast and that the Lord will give you comfort until that time. Prayer is the best healing agent, I have come to find out. I had one foot on death's bed a few months ago while in a coma, but the Lord saw me through it.

Pinky,

Its cause you're doing too much that your foot's giving you problems :P

Seriously though...you've let your doc know about the numbness, right? Are your toes turning colors? Make sure that you are elevating your foot/ankle whenever you are laying down or sitting, to minimize any throbbing that's related to swelling. Rest, rest and more rest...I know easier said than done, what with all the critter's you've got there. Make sure you let Jess do his own laundry when he comes home. Give him a <hug> for me too, next time you see him.

Take care of yourself,

Theresa
