Default new to forum, multiple issues from MRI

I am new to the site. I have had migraine for 20 plus years, but they were resently lasting longer and getting more severe. My previous doctor retired and my new physician suggested I get an MRI.

I procrastinated several months, then after another 3-day headache, scheduled one. I honestly didn't think anything would be found, so didn't worry much about it until two days ago.

My dr. called and left a message that she had been trying to contact me for several weeks, and my phone was always busy. My MRI was abnormal and the following things were found. 1) I have a Chiari (sp?) 2) a chronic sinus infection with a cyst over my left eye, and evidence of bleeding in the brain.

I am schedule for a MRA early next week, and am to schedule an appointment with both a neurologist and neurosurgeon. This is very upsetting and I feel like I was hit out of the blue. I honestly didn't expect the MRI to show anything.

Anyway, this sounds like a good place to get support, get questions answered and learn from others experiences.

((((((((((((((Woe))))))))))))))))).

I am sorry you're having to deal with all of this. How scary. I don't have a lot of advice other than to make sure to get a nsg who is well-versed in Chiari, as so many are not. You can get referrals and help with other questions from the following forums:

The Chiari forum here on BT: http://brain.hastypastry.net/forums/...splay.php?f=92 as well as:

www.WACMA.com
www.ASAP.org
www.conquerchiari.org
www.chiarione.org

Good luck, friend, and please let me know what you find out.

(((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))),

LIZARD

Post Welcome

Hi Woe,

Welcome to the forum. I am so sorry to hear of your results from the MRI. It must have threw you for a loop. I know it would have me.
I, personally, don't know anything about Chiari but I do hope the specialists will be able to take care of you.
I'm wishing you all the best,
Linda

Hi Woe,
Just read your post.... sorry to hear all that is going on with you. I know it can be a scary thing not knowing what to make out of the MRI reports. I too got an MRI report back last week which I expected to be normal and it showed a Chiari I Malformation and sinus disease.
Let me know what your next test revels.

Take care.
