First Week of School over

Hello all. sorry I did not posted sooner, had a storm and no internet for a couple of days, then was so bussy with the entire deal.

Well Kids first day of school was on Monday. Both of them seem ok at first. Rachel did great, actually, Rachel did excellent all week, that ammounts to Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday because Thursday and Friday there was no school. Ok, so she did good, I took them in, and the bus broght them home to my drive way.

So Monday, I get a call from the school on Joshua, this doesn't surprise me a bit, as I know my son, so he takes fits, falls on the floor, cries and doesn't want to do what they tell him to, what a big surprise. The poor kid was having anxiety issues when we got off the car, I think the unexpected really did him ahead of time and he just got overwhelmed. so ok, I am asked if I can come on Tuesday and Wednesday in the mornings to help him transition and deal with him so they know how I handle him,, so I did. Tuesday I went in and hanged around the hall way for 3 hours, walked my legs off lol, but I could hear from out there if he was giving them any problems, you know how you are tuned in to their frequency?? yeap, I can pick him up in the middle of a room full of Turkeys getting ready to be, well, I won't be that graffic lol.
So from class, five minutes later they divide them into reading groups, according to their reading leve, all 2nd grade classes get divided, and each teacher takes a group, he goes in there fine, then I hear a meltdown starting to happen, sure enough, that sound in the middle of them turkeys yacking is my son, and I step into door way, he looked at me in disbelief that I was there, I look back, said "sit down, take your book and read", his shoulders drooped, his eyes looked at me like "you are kidding me" and he sit down, took the book, gave me one last look and started to read lol, this isn't rocket science, the kids is going to test the teachers to see who he can bend and do good, heck, been there done that, love him to pieces and he is bright, but common sence says kids will test their limits, and my son is an expert at that...

break here so it aint that long....

Walked some more, they transition back to the classroom, he did ok, had a point where I had to walk by the door way and give him the 'lazy eye' look, and he straightened up again. So I took off right before lunch.. report was that he did had a bit of a rough time the rest of the day, but nothing like the day before when he had to be dragged out of the classroom.

Day 3, I go with both of them, hang around the hall, listen, seemed like things where going well, so decided not to stay more then 30 minutes this time, and took off... I had sent a clip board with him to school for a report from the teachers, and he did fairly well, with a couple of small insidents. The day just seems to be a bit longer then he is used to it, he had more freedom at home and all this is going to take some adjusting to.

So, 3 days down, the rest of the year to go, I keep my fingers crosed, and well, I tell you, I will be hanging around the hall way on and off for surprised visits, so he knows that you just never know when mom is gonna show up lol.

Rachel did not get a full aid, but she seems to be getting plenty of support,, all this boils down to, that regardless of them been at school, there still homeschooling to be done at home, but this time I feel a bit better concentrating in the reading for now, and mat as needed, the rest will be dealt later with.

I am going a bit stir crazy, I miss my kids, as they always with me, so been doing some deep cleaning on my pantry, went and bought me canastirs for all my things, cereal, flours, sugar,pasta, you name it,, all is nice and neat, not I need to attack the pots and pans and move from there.

Oh boy it sounds like you had a full week! I am glad that the school let you stay like that and that you were able to keep your son on his toes. That will certainly help him I think.

I understand the feeling that you are missing your little ones, I miss my son when he's at school. But it gets easier with time. It's great they are dropping them off at your driveway like that, it makes it a lot easier when you don't have to walk to a bus stop and wait on the bus.

That's great! You know your son. Hopefully he will soon learn not to play tricks on the teachers. The greatest is that you are allowed to be there.
