I am a newbie and looking for some answers. I have had numbness in my brain on and off for the past month and a half. I have had panic disorder for the past six months and was doing well until now. I take Xanax once a day(.5mg) after weaning down from 3x a day. I must admit this recent numbness started after a weekend of heavy partying(alcohol only) and have visited the neuro who put me on Keppra yet told me to live a normal life. This was a week and a half ago. Since then I have kept a daily journal when numbness would occur etc. Having a sleep deprived EEG done(the second one I have had)tomorrow. I went to the emergency room four days after my partying as I was not feeling right. It was diagnosed as a bad panic attack. I have not had a drink since that weekend. I have abused alcohol however would not consider myself an alcoholic. Do I need to moderate? Most definitely.
Any thoughts? |

Hi! Welcome to the Forums.
I just wondered if you could explain what you mean bout numbness on your brain. Do you mean that your scalp feels numb, or do you mean you have some sort of 'brain fog' feeling? Where exactly are you feeling numb? |

Its hard to describe. I would consider it more of a feeling like my foot fell asleep as far as the numbness in my brain.

I have had a second EEG that said everything was normal. Both EEG's I have had were sleep deprived. Still having periodic numbness in my brain though.

not sure if you're still around--it's been a couple of years apparently--but you do realize that brains are normally numb right? only local anesthetic is needed for brain surgeries and that's only for the scalp and bone that's being cut. the brain doesn't need local anesthetic because it doesn't have pain receptors--or any kind of "touch" receptors at all.
so whatever is bothering you--or was bothering you--it's not actually brain numbness--that's normal. |
