After watching this I was just stunned into speechlessness.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aa2-bFlASpo What are we supposed to think about this new bill and this representative who refused to see this concerned father? For them to call US parents of kids with autism as the 'autistic parents' really ticks me off big time. And for them to say we are the most vile people they get calling there incenses me no end. ![]() |

This is the bill that I suggested a few months ago that everyone write their senators about. It authorizes over 900 million dollars for not only autism research but also early identification and treatment! It is strongly supported by Autism Speaks (with NAAR), ASA, CAN, etc.
This bill passed UNANIMOUSLY in the Senate. Now that it's in the House, it's being held up by one man - Joe Barton, the Chair of the committee to whom it's assigned. Here's a little more info http://autismspeaks.org/press/statem...autism_act.php By the way, I am a little bit suspicious of the claim about all the nasty phone calls. I think it's very possible that the staffer could tell she was talking to someone to whom politeness was important and thought her saying that would make him feel really bad and make him back down. I don't know, of course. She may have also been saying it for the benefit of the camera. x<BO~ Last edited by NaughtyMouse : 11-12-2006 at 09:58 PM. |
