Question depression and anxiety after craniotomy

I had a colloid cyst removed on Sept 6 2006. Performed at MD Anderson Cancer Hospital (awsome place!) Physical recovery was fast, I missed a month of work (now only working 1/2 days though). Three weeks ago I started feeling a little down....then a very negative outlook crept in and then the crying. Put on Lexapro (not completely working yet). I have joked that I would rather be gorked out and my head hurting than feeling like this. ("gorked"=heavily medicated) Has anyone else had to deal with post-op depression?

julia, yes to the depression from my colloid cyst post op. Scroll down to the colloid cyst board. Under Colloid Cyst, you may get a lot more responses from your post there. Mr Lester has given us our own site...Thanks to Dodi for that she was the master mind behind that one.

I had grade 2 oligodendroglioma removed from left temporal lobe in Feb of this year. My surgeon told me ahead of time that depression was so common after surgery it was expected , it would be treated with AD and quickly pass.
I've never tried any AD I "liked" or had any luck with so I stumbled along as best I could.
Good luck and best wished to you.

Hi Julia,
Please come to the Colloid Cyst forum here at BrainTalk. (scroll down a bit and you will see it.) There are quite a few folks there who have gone through the whole process of headaches, diagnosis, surgery, recovery......life after colloid cyst. I think you will find alot of very good information that will help you in the future. (I learn something everytime I go there)

Please scroll down a bit and you will find it. (I tried to post a link you could click on to get there, but it won't let me....((sorry))).

Hope to see you there, Dodi
