Hi everyone. I know many of you are just "lurking"; so please just jump in and say hello. Come on now, don't be bashful.
The air now definitely feels like Autumn. The temps are still mild but the wind has a different feel to it. It is so easy to project to the dreary cold of Winter and get depressed. All we can do is savor the present moment. Even If I recall the worst Winters we've had in recent years, I can still find reason to be happy - I'M SOBER. If I had to relive the Winters of my drinking days now; it would be an absolute horror show. So even in our darkest moments today there is always light. All we have to do is remember a comparable day from the depths of our alcoholism/addiction and gratitude will do the rest. Have a great day Citoig |

Good to see you today!
I had a couple of appointments today and some errands to run today so I'm just now finally getting a chance to check the forum. We've had some pretty cold temps here already - 30's and 40's for the HIGHS! But they are predicting that it will warm up to more 'normal' temps in the next few days - might even see some 60's!! I don't care much for the cold and a LOT of snow, but I do enjoy seeing a little bit of the white stuff - somehow it seems very peaceful to me! (Not if I have to drive in it though!) UGH! But I agree that it's always good to look at the 'bright' side of things and to continually pray our prayers of gratitude for being in this place of recovery in our lives! ![]() --------- Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it. --William Arthur Ward

Its rainy and cold. Citoig, you sound like my sponsor. Today, I am grateful to have the life I have, and happy I has yummy banana pudding instead of empty liquor calories. It was good.

Hey Citoig!!! Had to go back to this silly name. Seems like this 'new' place won't take my 'Lee" name, so had to use my other one. NUTS. Anyway, it's GOOD to hear from you!
I know what you mean about the cool/cold days of autumn and the projecting of the winter to come. It CAN throw some of us into a real tailspin of depression due to the gloom and "doom-like" feelings since there's seldom much sun. I remember those days of feeling so terribly down, so I figured I may as well drink so I'd make myself feel "better." HAH!!! What a joke!!! Better???? I became so MAULDLIN that I'm surprised that I didn't shoot myself, since there were plenty of guns in the home - all registered. Anyone who thinks drinking makes them feel better is NUTS. I'm SO grateful now that I don't feel the need to so-called "ful-fill" myself like that! It's all a lie! Everything booze tells you is a lie - EVERYTHING!! I never realized that until I became sober - how sad. But it's true ~ It's one big, fat, silly, ironic, pathetic and tragic LIE. Booze does nothing but KILL and I keep losing one friend after another from drinking. Not close, current friends, as I don't hang around drunks ~ but former friends whom I used to care about. But I'm still alive thank God and it's all because of YOU people and my Higher Power whom I choose to call God. I am forever thankful to you all. Even tho I don't know most of you, we're still all in this together. God bless you all! Love, Lee PS: Citoig~ let me know how you are, ok??? |
