Default anything stronger than lidoderm patches?

i have chronic foot pain from a cauda equina injury, neurophy .
in summer i wear special mbt rocker bottom carbon sole sandals and i can survive. the pain increases when the metarsals bend, if anything touches my toes i have pain , even when sitting,
its cold now and even though i had a mbt boot re lasted to make it as wide as my forefoot, the pain is double what the sandal pain is.
i can only fit 2 lidoderm patches on my foot, they seem to help a bit.
is there anything stronger i could put on my foot to kill the local pain.
i take 15 to 30 mgs of oxycode to try and walk around but it only last for 3 hours. i think if i had a stronger local acting pain killer i could go with half the oxy with better results.

Hi Yonkersguy,
I suffer from several spine disorders at all 3levels an auto immune illness and S1 nerve damage that effects about the whole of my body from the lower back down both legs in to my feet.
I have tried just about all of it and for the last couple of yrs have been on methadone and baclofen along with cymbalta for the pain and have to say once they got the methadone doseage right it has been the best coverage I've had in the over 7yrs I've been in pain.
I'm not saying that there isn't some side effects but woth dealing with for the coverage.
I no longer take any BT pain meds and rarely feel that I need any unless I over do.
Good luck I hope you are able to get relief soon.
Linda

Hi Yonkersguy ~ There are lots of drugs stronger than the patches, but many doctors are afraid to Rx them due to the feds sticking their noses into their practice! The feds need to stay out of the prescribing business and leave it up to the doctors!!! Consequently MANY patients are NOT getting the proper pain care that they need!! It's outrageous.

I don't know if there is anything in the patch that works longer. There are drugs that are timed release that work longer. MS Contin is one; You've tried Oxycontin but that (15-30mg) is a small dosage ~ be SURE you check with your doctor as to how much you can take because that can HIT you all at once, especially if you're taking anything else!!! There are other drugs for pain too, but I can't think of them all. Lortab comes to mind, but I've never tried that. How many mgs. are in the Patch??? You might ask you doc how many patches you can use at once ~ perhaps cut them up so you can use more than one.

I wish I could offer some concrete advice for you. Having foot pain is horrible.
Most importantly, has the cauda equina been taken care of??? That's the MOST important thing!!! And is this a permanent thing with your foot? Have you been to pain management? God bless you, my friend as this is agony ~ I know. I have a permanently damaged sciatic nerve that goes into the foot and the pain can really get to you!!! Please take care and let me know how you come out. God bless (again). Hugs, Lee (female)

The Lidoderm is part of a pain mgt. picture for those of us who use it. I use three of the patches on my lower lumbar, daily, and it does make a difference in my pain levels.

I am fortunate that I place mine in a location where they stay put. If I needed the Lidocaine in a location that was not compatable with patching, I would talk to my doc about trying a Lidocaine gel. You can get gels that are compounded with other ingrediants or you can get straight Lidocaine 5%. Just a thought. Best wishes.

i am looking for something i can put locally on the foot , that is stronger than lidoderm patches, i have the other meds, however some of my pain is localized and mechanical, so if i can get by without the narcotics by using a local anaesthetic on my foot

Default Yes this Gel really works

Hi I have a gel that is mixed just for my condition. It is the only thing that works immediately and is applied topically. I get it from Custom Meds in Inverness Florida, your doctor has to write a script for it. ingredients: There are days if I didnt have this gel I could not walk, or use my arm, or my hands. I also take 28 different scripts orally- but this works topically better than anything. I have a full body problem, I tried the patches first but needed too many and this is far more effective. I get 120 GM's every two weeks. . You need to describe the type of pain you are having and then the pharmacist there creates a mix for you.MY mixture has six ketamine, GAB,CLN,EML,AML and KETO . I hope this helps you. mbrfz there telephone number is listed. My pain management Doctor calls in the script and they ship directly to my home via ups.
