Unhappy Found out that my heart is stiff

I went to a new Internist, she had the results of my echocardiogram. She told me that my heart is stiff. Iknow what comes after that, Congestive heart failure. I constantly have edema in my lower extremities. I take Lasix 80mg daily, spironalactone 25mg a day and now a new med metolazone 5g twice a week. I also take Toporal xl 50mg daily and still I get edema

I have so many Neuro problems to deal with. Now my swallowing is bad, my lungs and diaphram are only working at half the capasity so I have had to deal with pneumonias.

I am beginning to feel like what else is going to go wrong with my body. I am just plain tired and sick of being sick. I am dealing with it, the best I can!

I will continue to Dream Big and Reach for the stars! Javisi

Talking Thanks!

Natalie,
Thanks for the support. Sometime a person needs to vent a little to feel better. Right now I am on antibiotics for aspiration pneumonia. I am really tired of being sick but attitude is a key to keep going on! I am really trying to make the best of my life for as long as I can!

No one knows how much longer we will be on this earth, and when you are sick that is a big reality shocker. But it really helps you to put things into perspective. So lets all live life to the fullist! Thanks again!

Still Dreaming Big and Reaching for the Stars! Javisi

I remember getting pulled off the treadmill and being told that my heart would kill me long before my cadasil did. The doctor looked concerned and serious, but inside I was thinking "Buddy, you're thinking you just gave me bad news, but I'm thinking that you gave me good news." I was afraid hat I would live the same miserable life my mother did, then dying at 94 like she did, and I did not want to live that long or go through what she did....so it was OK with me if I had a bad heart. I refused to go to the cardiologists and wouldn't hear of getting a heart splint (which don't work well anyway) and I went on with my miserable life waiting for the big one, sometimes even hoping for it.
I know. I know. I am going to ruffle feathers but that's what happened to me, and that's the way I felt when it did. I am tired of all the moronic advise "to fight your disease" by a lot of simplistic well wishers. I'd like someone of explain how you fight a genetic flaw. And the answer has nothing to do with hope, those sentiments are rarely realistic. So if this post makes you mad. OK just be mad. Don't tell me about it, I have heard it too often, too many times.

Hi michael. sorry you had a bad luck of the draw. i sometimes feel that way myself and share your sentiments. i have made it to 62 myself though, javisi hasn't. she is young enough to be my daughter i suspect. and javisi has not been able to post in a long time.

i hope you will visit us on the emotional forum. there are several threads there that some of us try and post on regularly. or start a new one with your own title. in any case, you would get some replies from some folks that have not had it easy in life either and try to offer suport and such.

i hope you can keep your emotions even, for me that is a big help. that is if it is not one that makes you feel like your top will blow off. i hope for the best for you.
