Default OT: Anyone suffer from anxiety?

I do. I am thinking of seeing a local naturopath about it. Its getting rediculous.

If you have it, what are your ways around it or ways your dr treats it?

Hi
I tried to get around my anxiety attacks for years. However I finally decided that because of a pretty anxiety provoking childhood, my mind was kind of set this way. I have heard that a lot of anxiety as a child affects the way the brain grows So anyway, I went to the doctor and asked for something. First I tried paxil, but I put on mega pounds, not good! Then, I tried Serzone and had weird reactions and hallucinations. My kids thought it was funny as all get out!

Finally I was put on Prozac and stayed on it with occasional tweeks for probably eight years and it worked well. Now, my new doctor has put me on Cymbalta, to help me lose weight and to give me a little more energy. I don't know that it has helped me lose any weight, but it does give me a little more energy, which means I have to take it in the morning, or it will keep me up at night. However, it really does help my anxiety. I wish I didn't have to take meds, but I am much happier if I do and feel "normal" if you will.

Anyway, that's my story, hope it helps.

Lisa

Gaba supplements and B3 without the flush component (it has Inositol, another supplements that reduces anxiety), have been found to act as Valium. Valium and other Benzodiazepines are antianxiolics but addictive, with serious adverse effects.
Helping with anxiety and moods are vitamins B in general and fish oils, omega 3-6-9, etc.
More than pills I believe in talking to a trusting, understanding person helps you unload and reduce anxiety. It help me when overwhelmed with my son dx I went down for a while.
