Default Hidradenitis Suppurativa

Hidradenitis Suppurative (HS) is an auto-immune disease, there is no known cure. I am just now learning about it but it is in the simplest of terms, stopped up sweat glands. It is considered a rare disease.

A friend of mine that has been GF/DF for six months has just been diagnosed with HS. She is about 56 years old, has osteoporosis but is other wise in good health. Her weight is ideal, she exercises and eats a very healthy diet.
Since she has gone GF/DF she no longer has bone pain and has been able to stop that pain medication. She has double DQ1. Her husband is very supportive...

Has anyone ever heard of anyone with this disease, or know anyone that has it? Do you know where there is an HS forum? Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, I have HS.

I have had the sweat glands in my armpits surgically removed, which helps.

Oh My Bewolf, I see you are in England. This lady is also from England.
Do you know which celiac genes you have?
How long have you had it?
Are you on antibiotics?
How is your overall health? Do you mind revealing your age?
Thanks for posting.

Do you know which celiac genes you have?

I never even thought it a celiac condition! ...sorry.

How long have you had it?

30 odd years or so.

Are you on antibiotics?

DO NOT GO DOWN THIS LINE!
I was on antibiotics for two years solid... It does no good and totally F***s up your teeth... brown teeth anyone?

How is your overall health?

OK mostly, tad over weight, but this has nothing to do with HS

Do you mind revealing your age?

21... ish...

As an aside I eat LOADS of garlic... fortunately my wife and son also like garlic.

It is rare now for me to need a antibiotic dose... about 3 years since I did that.
I eat loads of roughage and few processed foods.
Tea tree oil helps at the first signs of trouble... which I am good at spotting these days.

BTW, I do not usually post in this forum as I didn't think I was a celiac...

(Don't tell anyone ... but I just nick their recipes )

I usually hang about in the chronic pain forum due to my wife.

hmmmm, You might want to be checked for celiac. I suggest Enterolab.com
It is common to get another auto-immune illness when you have celiac.

That could be humorous - you hang out in the pain forum because of your wife. I hope your wife is okay, thinking that she must be in pain and you are being supportive doing the research.

Again, thanks for the info
