Default Both gastroparesis and constipation/anyone else?

The gastro dx is new. I still need to have a gastric emptying study for confirmation. For constipation, a fiber rich diet is recommended. For gastro, just the opposite. How confusing! I have been supplementing my meals with flax seed for years. I think i might do better without it. I can't imagine making drastic changes to my diet though. I always figure i have such a healthy diet too.

My kids were always very thin. as babies they tended to get the runs. and every time i took them for check ups. the doc would ask if i fed them because they didn't gain weight. Hence i was the one mother who was perfectly happy for my kids to eat cake and cookies occasionally and especially just b4 a visit to the pediatrician. Now i am thinking maybe i am better off with cake and cookies for myself and i don't even like such tihings!

Does anyone else have this combo of diseases? How do u deal with it?

I have had gastroparesis for years. If you go to Yahoo.com and search for gastroparesis, there is a very good support group there. I am a moderator of the group, but have been in semi-retirement from the board for awhile.

Good luck!

I have IBS, and a lot goes into that, along with constipation. But, I have not heard of gastroparesis. I do get the gas brought on by the fiber in flax seed, and a high fiber diet, but that may not be what you are refering to. There are over-the-counter medications that you can take for this type of problem. (Gas-X and such) I actually take a prescribed medication to calm things down, but I cannot think of the name of it right now. (I was recently in a coma so my memory is very bad).
