Literally. Dr.V isn't sure that he'll find anything and doesn't want to do imaging. Now I know to stop bothering my NS. "Wait and see" is the current approach.

I'm off to sleep for a bit... feeling nauseated and feeling pressure
Not that it matters.
Hope everyone else is well.

My hubby and I went to the Miami/Buc game this past weekend and decided to make a mini vacation out of it and stayed on the beach. Saturday was a beautiful day so we went down to the beach and because we like to walk, I gave my container of BT meds to my husband to put in his pocket. We went back to our chairs and after awhile my husband decided to go swimming. He checked for his cell phone but both of us completely forgot about my meds. So he went swimming and we went back to the hotel. A little while later I asked him for my meds and we both looked at each other in horror! He felt his pockets and I dumped out the bag and nothing!! We both totally freaked. It wasn't all my meds but still losing any is not good.

He headed back to the beach hoping to find it. I figured it was in key west by now,lol and knew he would never find it. It had been hours and he swam out pretty far. I waited awhile and then headed back down myself and there was my husband holding the container! He said he walked down from where he had gone swimming and there it was, washed up on the beach. I can't believe someone didn't pick it up as the beach was pretty crowded. Whew! I figured they were long gone!!

Just when I think I have my bowels under control, a new med or procedure (the barium swallow aftermath: the worst) upsets the balance.

Usually I do pretty well on benefiber plus calcium in my a.m. coffee, 200 mg colace daily, and 1-3 tbsp of lactulose when things don't move.

I hate having to wait around hoping for dulcolax to work, or having to resort to the dreaded enema when things *just stop* in spite of my regular routine!

Gone are the days when I worry about going to far and having diarrhea...

Does anyone else have trouble keeping on track, despite a regular bowel regimen?

I can't recall which thread she last posted on,said she was off to the hospital. I just called her house & left my phone # & asked that anyone there let us know how she's doing.

I left messages yesterday afternoon (my time) on her cell & house phone. We know she has the H1N1 flu,we know she had a possible seizure, and frankly I'm concerned!

I do have phone #'s for her kid's,her mom has been staying with her. If I don't hear something by this afternoon I'll try one of the other numbers.

Please let us all know if anyone hears from her! I know if she was OK she'd be answering the phone don't ya think? Or better yet be here with an update.

Pray she is OK......it's been one year & one week since we lost out dear Tootsie, none of us want that ever to happen again.

Summary of the Eighth Meeting, 27 October 2009

1. Consent for blood transfusion

Members were reminded that questionnaires regarding informed consent for blood transfusion had been finalised by a working group consisting of SaBTO members and other experts. Two questionnaires have been developed which are specifically for either Healthcare Professionals or Patient groups. The working group had agreed the management of the consultation process with the Department of Health. The consultation process will be UK wide. Participants will be given 12 weeks to respond, after which time the consultation will close and the responses will be analysed.

2. MSBTO Guidance update

Members noted the urgent need for this update, which was expected to be forthcoming shortly.

3. Prion Filtration

Members had discussed prion filtration at previous meetings, and had asked to be kept updated on progress of both efficacy and safety assessments. This was provided via a presentation from the vCJD working group, with new data from both the ongoing clinical trial to assess safety of prion filtered red blood cells (the PRISM trial) and independent efficacy assessments of the performance of the same product. Early results from the clinical trial are encouraging, but members noted that the trial is still some way from completion. Members were appraised of data from the Health Protection Agency’s independent evaluation of efficacy, in addition to information from the manufacturer and another independent study. The committee noted that independent data from animal based, endogenous studies of efficacy will not be available until 2014. Having considered the information and analysis provided, the committee:

• is satisfied that there is now sufficient evidence that this particular filter reduces infectivity;

• recommends that filtered red cells be provided to those born since 1 January 1996, subject to satisfactory completion of the PRISM clinical trial.

The committee also noted that, if implemented, the continuing requirement for prion filtration should be reviewed in the event that either further data on prevalence or efficacy of the filters becomes available.

1

The committee had previously recommended the introduction of double dose red cells (DDRC) as a vCJD risk-reduction measure for under 16s and patients with haemoglobinopathies. SaBTO recommended that DDRC be rescinded for those groups receiving prion filtered blood.
In fact, one (he has two) shunt has not worked properly since around 11 yrs old. The doctors say no pressure, so no revision. But, he is having some symtoms. Breathing heavy. Falling asleep in the car or just sitting around. Also, he does have memory problems. Unable to keep a job. Any advice?? Thanks.

Hi,
I am seven year experienced Administrative Assistant, experience in Word, Excel, QuickBooks, Outlook, Receptionist, Norstar Multiple Extension Switchboard, business equipment management, supply orders and inventory, and lost last position in December 2008 due to corporate downsizing. I am diagnosed tarlov cyst, have another find on CT scan, and am looking for work as Administrative Assistant. Due to the rheumatism and problems remembering, being slow, I am concerned I will be terminated if I am not able to learn new skills, since my memory is not at all too well anymore. I post here to offer services in Administrative Support to a physician, or for a company, for health insurance and treatment. A find on CT Scan showing something cordlike extending down from spleen, wraps around spine, and does not appear to connect anywhere in my spine. A cauli-flower like image inside of spleen this cordlike extension connects to. When comparing other spleen images to others on CT, I see nothing cauli-flower like, nor see any cord-like image extending down from spleen and wrapping around spinal column. It was confirmed by reporting CT radiologist, this was a blood vessel inside of spleen, yet, he failed to report find on the report, nor make mention about cord-like structure extending from blood vessel that is wrapped around my spinal cord. I retain copy CT Scan images, with report. My research indicates, this "cauli-flower" form in spleen may be a harmatoma? I have some precancerous diagnoses. I feel too sick. I am offering Administrative Support services in exchange for physician care and any treatment. My spine is more a problem than my spleen. I have my imaging and reports, and physician papers.
