Dear Friends,
I could tell you pages and pages of Doctors that did,t beleive me in the beginning of my illness. Mean, rude and obnoxious Doctors.
I had an outpatient procedure to have a gastrostomy tube. I developed much more pain after the procedure was done. My Doctor wanted me to stay over night. I was stubborn and said I am tired of being in the hospital, I just want to go home. He called me twice that night and gave me his cell phone number and said call if you develop a fever.
I did develop a fever that night and was in a somewhat delerious state, I called him and he told me to go to the local hospial and give them his cell number.
When he did my procedure he accidently put a hole in my stomach so the gastric juices were leaking into my abdomen. I went into septic shock, I was transfered by ambulance to a major hospital in our state, he was there waiting for me.
He was very humbled and appologetic. I reminded him that we are all humans and accidents do happen. we are not infalable. He stayed at the hospital with me for over 30 hours. Everytime he came to see me he appologized, It was a very sincere appology!
I also had a wonderful Nurse, that sat on my bed and talked to me when I was crying. I told her I was afraid to go home. I was afraid of getting sick again. She was so understanding and caring!
There are many caring Doctors and Nurses out there but it seems with Neurological problems you have to weed through a lot of bad ones to find a good one that is willing to care for you and interested in finding the root cause of your problems.
Dream Big, with hope for Inner Peace to all,
PS: My G.I Dr. was Dr. Lee out of Lincoln, Nebraska;)
