forum function: partial quotes...how DO you?

Okay...I keep thinking I'm going to go read how to do this but apparently I'm not ever going to get a round tuit so I guess I'd better ask you guys.

I can click the 'include quote in reply" button on here but it includes the entire post in the quote. How do you guys quote just a portion of the post in your replies?

There's probably a better way, but I delete the parts of the post that I don't want to quote.

Peglem is right. Just delete what you don't need. :)

Highlight the portion you want...
When you go to put it into your post you type
copy of text

You must spell the member's name correctly with proper capitals etc.

I see it quoted it...so I am editing this command so you can read it
[quote=member's name] at the start
Then put the text in there
then end with parentheses/quote end parentheses

Any way to show you here just quotes it again.. I hope you can follow this.
If the post is long...this is a faster shorter way... If the post you are quoting is short,
then deleting may be faster. I use the [quote=member's name] all the time
It is the same function as the [quote] one with just =member's name inserted

well....i have been doing the delete too....when I have the patience.

now....this made the quote format and all, but I copy/pasted the actual phrase quoted and it didn't seem to care if I wrote the proper member's name. I think I'll experiment some more. Do I have to c/p? or just highlight?

I delete the parts of the post that I don't want to quote
and it doesn't count the characters of the part quoted....so you can't just quote without adding 10 characters. :)
