Hello,
I just wanted to check in with everyone. I continue to have what I am quite sure is CSF leaking into my ears (both of them) following my skull base fracture a few months ago now. It is always better in the morning and then gets worse through the day. My symptoms are: ear fullness, ear pressure, wet sensations in my ear, itching in my ears, and obvious fluid that drips into my ears and then down my throat. My ears feel better than they did three or four months ago so I am hoping that means that they are leaking less but I am not sure about that. I am not sure if the ears feeling better means I am leaking less or just that the fluid is doing a better job of moving through the ears and down the eustachian tubes. I have some type of autoimmune disease that acts sort of like lupus and I think that may be contributing to the impaired healing of my dura and thereby contributing to my leak - but this is just a theory.
I have been approved to see Dr. Mokri at Mayo in the coming months so I am excited to be seeing one of the best in the field and will welcome whatever he can tell me. I will keep you all posted.
Hope everybody is doing okay. I am always thankful for this website and appreciate hearing updates from all of you.
Take Care....Ed.
