HI,

I just have a quick question. Can low B12 cause facial droop and can it still be causing a person issues after 3 years of monthly injections?

I am having pain in my arms and legs, numbness, tingling, cramping in my foot and toes, headaches and of course facial drooping and pain in and around my ears on both sides.. I wont even get into the fatigue or memory issues.. sigh..

The trouble is its not constantly it comes and sticks around for anywhere between a few weeks and months.. Then leaves and I start feeling "normal" again and then it hits me again months later. I am very confused as to whether this is B12 related or something else.

My level was first tested at 92 and then a week later it was tested and came back at 132. (without an injection or any b12 pills) They tested twice to make sure the first test wasnt faulty they told me.. I asked for another test but the docs wont retest saying if I am getting the injections then my levels will be fine..

Thanks

Cam

Facial droop wouldn't be typical, but then nothing really is. The things that can affect one individual, but not another, are impossible to list.

I suspect that something else may be going on, whether caused by the B12 deficiency, contributed to by it, or entirely unrelated. We are so complex and things are so often related in some way. But improvement can come slowly even after years of B12 treatment, and ups and downs are not uncommon as the body works to repair.

The B12 test is not reliable, but those results plus your symptoms almost surely point to deficiency.

If I were you, I would make sure to get at least 1000 mcg B12 orally each day (in addition to the shots is fine), while remaining alert to other things. I would especially check out other autoimmune related conditions.
