I have lyme(5 yrs) been on abx since nov/06-doing much better-however I also have a cyst on my S2 that totally surrounds the nerve root-surgery etc not an option. In anycase I had a dumb A attach and shoveled snow and aggraviated my cyst big time-sciatica pain/electric shocks etc.-vicodin just barely helps-? is, will it hurt to get a steroid shot ? I know lyme pts shouldn't but can't remember why? Its the only thing that has ever helped.
Thanks for any imput

Sorry you are hurting. I don't have an answer for you, but someone over at the Lyme forum may be able to help.

This is something to be discussed with your lyme doctor. It may be OK to get the steroid shot since you are on antibiotics at this time.
In my case, I had a latent lyme infection. A steroid shot to my knee activated it, and I've been seriously ill ever since. (It didn't help that I couldn't get diagnosed for over a year and a half! )

Kpprhd, I certainly know how you feel, I've had this horrific sciatic pain myself on two different occasions-could not have moved without a walker!
I'm going to suggest you consider massage therapy, with "trigger point" pressure. This might give you relief without the pain pills or steroid shot.
Hire someone else to shovel the snow in the future!
Good luck,Buttons

Yuck, I simply can't imagine having snow right now! Hopefully all this nasty weather will kill off alot of ticks! Don't send them my way! WA doesn't allow ticks to cross the border don't ya know:rolleyes:
I AM feeling better,no idea why-time?? The biggee is that my knees have improved,I've suffered for 50yrs with knee pain!
There are days when I realize I'm getting "me" back! I actually try very hard to ignore my health issues as much as possible. It would take a miracle at this point to actually find out what's wrong with me & fix it. Some of my eye issues have gone, the double vision, flashing lights.etc. I'm even thinking of finally getting new glasses without it being a waste of money.
I have high energy days just like "normal", the sad thing is that I wear myself out & then am down for 2-3 days afterward. My brain feels more clear. The myoclonic jerks are non-existent for days/weeks....and then wham! No warning, just start jerking again! Need my brain rewired!
No horrid stomach pains for awhile now, but I am having new pains that are scary cause they feel like it's in my bones, comes & goes. And I'm still gaining weight!! This is keeping me depressed big time! Every day is a battle to keep going it seems,I just want my life back!
Hang in there!

Buttons, I'm so sorry for all you're going through. I wish I had quarter for how many times I've said, "I just want my life back." We'd be very rich indeed.
Keep on keeping on - we'll all make it together.
Hugs,
Kathy:) :D
