I have been having this pain going down the back of my leg - in the muscle from halfway between hip and knee - down to mid calf. It's right next to where it hurts when my sciatic nerve pain is. It's actually throbbing - and hurts pretty deep in there.
I haven't done anything that could have caused this that I can remember- but then again I get bruises I have no clue what happened.

I'm sorry; I don't know. It sounds similar (but may not be the same) as what I feel; mine's from the groin and inner thigh. It's been diagnosed as obturator neuropathy.

I can't say what is causing this pain for you but I can tell you that I used to have pains like you describe with my lumbar trouble. Since I didn't have sciatic pain the doctors didn't think it was lumbar related for a long time. Mine disappeared after my lumbar fusion.
I hope it diminishes soon and that if you have injured it you avoid these accidents in the future.

Wonder if arthritis in that area would cause that pain? Hard to tell with this one if it's nerve or muscle.....

Geez, could be most anything. Did it just start? How long has it been going on? I got more answers than questions to start. If it just started, maybe try rest, asprin if you can tolerate or Ibprofin, heat and cold 20 min on and off, you probably know the routine. If these very mild attempts to alleviate your discomfort show no reduction in pain, see your Dr.
Hope you get to feeling better. Pain is a pain. Ya know?!
Peace & Blessings to you,

curiousforever, do you still have as much pain in your leg muscles today? I used to have that deep almost bone pain in my leg and never really found out why. I still have it but rarely and like I said, I don't have it as much since my lumbar fusion. Your comment about arthritis is what I thought my problem might be but one of the test I had was to rule out arthritis and I never have had it. So it makes me wonder if spinal pain can cause that deep down pain in our legs? I hope you are doing better and find an answer soon.

Curiousforever I hope you're feeling better today.
I have pains in my legs that feels as though it's all the way down in the bone. It's very hard to describe but my Rheumy says that its my FM.
Hope you have some answers soon or at least some relief.

It just started the other night. It is feeling better today - at least compared to other parts hahahah.
Maybe I did do something to aggrevate it.
