I thought it might be fun to have a poll of who everyone is going for in the SuperBowl.
I want the Colts to win!! Sorry Bears Fans!! Dungy was our coach here and he is an awesome man who has endured tragedy with the suicide of his 18 year old son.
Also can I just say I LOVE to watch those commercials!!:D Some of them are just great!!

Here's my vote: I have no idea! :p I actually, as scary as it is, forgot that it was this weekend!! Someone mentioned it at school the other day, and I was really surprised that it was on Sunday! I guess that just shows how much attention I pay to sports! I only really follow ice hockey, and even then it's only the Devils, and even then it's only when I go to a game anymore. I just can't stand to watch it on tv. There's something that's just not right about it.
If the Giants were playing, then I think I'd pay attention, simply because I know my father will be downstairs screaming at the tv all afternoon!
Let's go whoever wins!! :D

GO COLTS! Who else considering where I live! :)
you can watch the commercials while I run to the batroom to tinkle;)
I was broken hearted Seatle didn't go all the way, but they did get to the last play off.
I will take The Bears. I have no idea who plays, who coaches................just didn't watch them this season.
In the past I have liked them, but only because they had a lot of players from the Uni 10 miles down the road from me. I usually knew them too.:)
Baseball is my passion, then football. a few other things thrown in there. Hey, I grew up with a bunch of bro's. I had to work harder to pitch better, bat better, make touch downs and kick field goals. I was the best of the Hill St. Bunch!!
the good old daze. probably why my back is shot!:(
Go Bears

I'll be watching Puppy Bowl III (http://animal.discovery.com/convergence/puppybowl/puppybowl.html) and cheering for Jackson :).

Too cute Bobbi!
Actually, my one dog (the female) watches Animal Planet. Since there are more than two TVs around my house, I ought to turn that on for them. God only knows they will both run from the room when everyone starts cheering and yelling for the Colts LOL!

Following the Puppy Bowl, be sure they stay tuned for the Puppy Tailgate Party :D. Seriously, though, there is one scheduled for broadcast.
Super Bowl ***IX ... my dog watched. She was super attentive during the tribute to Ray Charles; I took a photo of her (from behind where she was sitting) of her watching the 57" Sony and posted it (at the SD forum).
This year, I'll see if I can snap one of her watching Puppy Bowl. Fair is fair, after all, and this year: The big screen TV's hers ;).
lol @ puppies:) I saw a few clips on one of the news programs. It was TOO precious:) If the game gets boring I'll have to check in with the pups!
Thanks Bobbie for the help you sent me. I did what you and Mike both said and nothing worked. If you have anymore help, throw it my way, ok? I guess I am just going to be illigal alien till I find a fix. Thanks anyway, Julia
Bobbi

Julia, the puppies will be a good distraction if the ads are boring :).
(I'm trying to think of more ideas for the prob. you described; one is click on the link - other forum for WindowWasher, which provides a free trial period - and it should thoroughly cleanse all cookies. It totally wipes out mine for everything that I've not selected to save. After that, it'll be as if you never visited. Too, a simple question someone should've asked: Which browser do you use? If Netscape, the prob. could be - and likely is - that the password is stored. Please let me know and, if it is Netscape, I can walk you through how to fix it.)

I think the Colts will win but how can we lose when the Bear's QB is a Bloomington, In boy and the DE played at IU.
Actually, my one dog (the female) watches Animal Planet.
Too funny! My dog LOVES to watch "The Dog Whisperer." It is hilarious... he will drape himself over the Ottoman with his back feet on the floor and his "elbows" on the Ottoman and stare at the TV... but he only does it for that show and for certain commercials. There is a commercial about happy cows from California that he loves for some reason. For that commercial, he will get up and put his face right in front of the screen and tilt his head to the side and watch it. He is such a goof.
He lives at my mom's house for now, though. I have a studio apartment in another city because of grad school... no pets allowed. But he is as much her dog as mine anyhow, and she adores him.
BTW... He is NOT the tiny, sweet puppy in my avatar anymore. He is an 83-lb, lanky, tall giant. If he had more meat on his bones, he would easily be over 100 lbs with his frame, but he still has that tall, lanky adolescent look to him. He turned 2 in October.
PS- I think we should listen to Mark's opinion of who's going to win, given that he's a former football coach and all. But I may be biased because, being from Wisconsin, we are supposed to despise the Bears. Kind of confusing because I lived in Chicago for the past 5 years (moved in May), but hey...

What is the puppy bowl? It sounds adorable, but isn't it always adorable when puppies do anything! I hope they have a chocolate lab puppy like my little Codi Bear (little is a relative term...he's only about 100lbs with his extra skin and all. Yes, my dog has extra skin. I call him my jiggly-pup because when he runs, the skin jiggles back and forth and it's so cute. You can pull up on the skin on his back to where there's this flap that was I think like 5 or 6 inches long. I can only imagine how huge he would have been if he had grown into that! But I digress as per usual....) Codi and I will try to watch it, depending on how much work I get done. I would sit on the couch with him and do my work while watching, but Codi is under the dillusion that he's a lap dog. He only manages to get about the first 1/3 of his body on me, if even that much, because he can't manage to cram any more of his body on top of me!
And BrokenBladder: I will most definately tune in for the commercials! That's about the only thing I ever look forward to during the Super Bowl. I change the channel during the game, but always listen to the other TVs in the house, especially the one in my mom's room next door, so that I can switch back in time so that I don't miss a single one. Inevitable, if I miss one, it'll be the best one in the entire game!! :D  Maybe we can have a running commentary on here about the commercials and which ones we like and which ones are completely moronic!
What do you think everyone? Anyone want to try that idea out? See if we can pull off a running commentary on the commercials on here? It'd be interesting to see if this technology can be used to carry on a conversation that's happening in minutes instead of hours. Do you think we could pull it off?
but Codi is under the dillusion that he's a lap dog. He only manages to get about the first 1/3 of his body on me, if even that much, because he can't manage to cram any more of his body on top of me!
My "little" guy does the same thing. He isn't allowed on the couch (he has this giant, oversized Ottoman that he can lay on in the same room), but when I sit in the front passenger seat in the car, he still tries to cram onto my lap. Of course it doesn't really work, but it is funny. He just doesn't realize how huge he has gotten. We do have him go sit on the back seat, which is more comfortable for him because he can sprawl out... but I just think it is too funny when he tries to sit on my lap. My mom laughs and talks about my "little puppy" (who is neither little nor a puppy, but thinks he is both). :)

Well I would be willing to give it a shot anyway!! I have two teenage sons who will have friends over and it might be a little difficult for me to stay signed in on the comp and give my thoughts on the commercials as they happen, but hey, that's what the laptop for right?
I also have to chime in on the doggie aspect. I have an Australian Sheppard and boy is he ever adorable. I also have a Quaker Parrot who will talk his fool head off, especially when I'm on the phone!!
Gotta love our animals!! I know many times they're the ones who get me through the long painful days.

Lisa,
My sister would love hearing about your parrott. :) She has, yes, count them 14 of the big guys (all different)! Most of them she has rescued for various reasons. And the majority of them talk. It is hilarious! First, they are all in one big room in BIG cages ..so they are away from where everyone visits...thank goodness. Or else you couldn't hear yourself talk.
Anyway, during summer thunderstorms (at night), sometimes the lightening will startle them. So, one night, one of them startles and falls. Another, clear as a bell says, "It's okay honey, you can get up!" LOL I could go on and on about what all they say. But they actually talk to each other. Of course they have learned to repeat things they have heard. But I swear sometimes they can reason as well. And once when I was over there, one of them named Dewey kept repeating his own name, another says, "Dewey, stop it!"
Her kids are grown and gone so these birds are her babies now. I wouldn't want to clean those cages every week (no wonder she had to have carpal tunnel surgery). But she has done it for years and just loves them. And I don't even want to know what the exotic bird vet bills are. I just know she has to travel quite a distance to take them when one is sick or needs their beak trimmed or whatever.
As for me, yep, my two Shih Tzus keep me company on those long painful days like you say. When I have had my different surgeries, the female will not leave my side to go and eat. I have to literally get up and go downstairs with her so she WILL eat. Now, the male, he is different LOL! He will hang out with me during the day. But the minute my husband comes home, well, you can forget about me all night long lol! :)
ANYWAY...GO COLTS LOL!

Kathi, yes my one parrot seems to run the show in this house!! When I had surgery he climbed out of his cage and was walking towards my bed saying "Where's my mama?" It was priceless!! I could go on forever with his cute sayings, but this thread is really about football, right?
I'm headed off now to pick up a few snacks for the game and prepare to gorge myself and just relax!! I can't seems to get tacos and seven layer dip off my mind so I guess that will be our menu!! Oh well the kids love it too!!
Once again I say.........GO COLTS!!!!!

That 7 layer dip sounds great! My niece makes that all the time and I love it! Anyway, I will have to tell my sister about your parrot.
Okay, so I took a shower and now have my COLTS apparel on LOL! I am way too ready...it is only 11:30 am LOL!

Bobbi: I am actually watching it right now. It's so adorable!! That bowl cam is so funny! The golden retriever puppy was trying to dig through the bowl to get to the camera! It was so cute!! I don't know what breed those I think 2 white fluffy puppies are but they are so cute!! It's so funny watching them do all that running around and tackleing of each other then they get so tired that they sprawl out like th adorable pooch that's currently lying down on the 50 yard line logo! And there's a chocolate lab in there too! Aww! What's with the cats? It's the puppy bowl, not the pet bowl!! Bring back the puppies!!
This show is just too cute! What a great idea! The only problem I have with it is when they show the commercial with the dogs in the shelter. It's so sad! I wish I could just bring them all home! The communication's honor society that I am a member of at school is doing a service project where we are collecting items for our local ASPCA shelter. I've already told them that I'll do all the collecting I can, but there's no way I can actually go and deliver things to them! I'd walk out with every pooch in the place! As soon as I mentioned the project to my mom, she immediately said, "No we can't have another dog, or another dozen dogs, so you are not allowed to go to the shelter!" She knows me too well!
Lisa: Yum, 7 layer dip!! I haven't had that in so long but it's so, so good!! Enjoy it!
Kira: Luckily, Codi understands that in the car, he has to ride in the way back (we all drive SUVs). I'll never forget the first time he rode in the back when he was a puppy. He was so terrified! We managed to go about 100 yards away from our house before we felt so terrible listening to him whining and moaning because he was so scared and we finally just stopped. I went and got him out of the back and he was so happy! He rode with me in the front seat until he was too big for laps, then he started in the way back. He didn't quite understand it at first, so he always would climb over the back seat to try and get to the front, until we got the gate-things that keep him in the back. Now he's completely fine and loves going for his occassional ride. It's a great way to get him to calm down. Just pop him in the back, drive around the block a few times, and he's so tired that when he gets home he just plops down in his cage and naps for an hour! They are so adorable, it's totally not fair!! :D
Well, it's time for me to get to work! Enjoy the game(s) and the commercials everyone!! :D

The golden retriever puppy is "Action" Jackson; he had a flag called on him for "puppy roughage on the field"; another of the calls was for puppy cuteness happening :D.
The fluffy white triplets are Huskies.
The kitties? They were the half-time "show." :)
My doggie watched it, and... yep: I got photos of her watching Puppy Bowl III . (If I'm too tired today, I'll post some tomorrow.)
The American Humane Society monitored the program :).
P.S.: A friend watching the show with me said the white ones are Huskies; they're not. They're Samoyed (http://animal.discovery.com/breedselector/dogprofile.do?id=2510).

and the Colts did a good job. Boy what a messy game with all of that rain.
It started out to be a nice family get together but as soon as the tacos and dip were done and everyone had eaten they started to scatter throughout the house!! Sigh.....so I watched most of the game alone.
Anyway it still turned out to be a nice evening especially since the Colts won!!

That was actually a pretty good game! It was looking grim at the outset, but the Colts pulled it off pretty nicely in the end!
I thought that there have been a lot better years for commercials. There were way too many of them that I looked at and went, um, okay, and the point of that was...? I would post more but I've been at this computer for way too long and I even managed to freakin forget to take my nighttime pills. Not a good move...

Lisa, I agree about the game and the commercials. It isn't that the commercials were bad, I think they were pretty good, it is just that none of them really stood out to me.
Kathi49
02-05-2007, 08:49 AM
I agree, the commercials were not outstanding. There were a couple I liked, but that was about it. I kept waiting for one that would be very unusual and I just didn't see any. I agree with Erin; yep, what was the point with that one?! LOL
Mark,
As I have said before, I don't watch football that much. But even I couldn't tear myself away. :) I got mad a couple of time at those officials, but boy when you saw those replays you could tell the officials were way off! And as my husband yelled, "....^#&@**@ invest in some VISINE!" LOL Heck, he was as entertaining as the game! :) Between he and my mom my daughter, who NEVER watches football, was with us and was cracking up at the two of them.
And while watching the local news I got even more tickled. Downtown people were out in the streets! And they didn't care about the arctic cold; they were having a blast!
Hey, it was a long time coming for the Colts and I am so happy for them and for Indy! :)

Puppy Bowl v. Super Bowl ...

Whether football players also sniffed each other: I dunno :).

Bobbi,
LOL! Nope, but the guys were sure falling into some puddles...the rain was something else! I don't know about sniffing lol, and I am not even sure if they patted each other on the butt either. :D
Mark,
Speaking of all of that. What is up with Manning lifting his leg all the time (pardon me Bobbi lol)? Is this just a "thing"? I never noticed it before until someone told the other day to watch for it.
Oh, and check this out. I think because of the cold and the game there were 2 hour delays this morning...looks like all over central Indiana. My husband just got through telling me that all the IPS bus drivers called in sick this morning LOL! And one of his co-workers just called him and told him that there is only about 2% of the employees at work. Yep, Indy is partying hard. I bet most are all going to the rally/parade today! It would be fun but this girl is NOT going anywhere....not at 2 below! :)

Kathi, the leg pump is a signal to his center and backs about when to go in motion or he is ready for the ball to be snapped. It is a problem getting heard in these stadiums so alot of teams, especially those that run shotgun, have some signal, usually a leg pump by the QB, to indicate when everyone is set so that motion backs and receivers know when to start their motion along with letting the center know when he is ready for the snap. They don't snap the ball then because the defense could tee off and get a jump on the snap so the center snaps it when he wants to.
:( well sniff sniff. Oh no, I'm not sniffing those dirty filthy players smelling like a bunch of wet dawgs!! I bet their mommy gave them a whack when they got home for having such dirty clothes:eek:
So truth, the Bears owned the first half, the Colts owned the 2nd half. Had the rain not come no telling what kind of game it could have been;)
The commercials were the pits, but whats new?:p
I'm happy for those that are happy, sad for those thats sad. We'll get over it come spring , baseball starts spring training:D

I have to admit, I went into my bedroom and was scanning channels when I came across the puppy bowl. OMG! That was so adorable!!! After the game was over I went out to the living room and told them to put it on. My girls thought it was very cute; however, Bill was not to amused and changed it rather quickly. I would love to have any one of those cute pups. I thought it was funny when they came out to "clean the field". Very cute show :)

But, but, but... Gimpy, did you check out her Elmo :D.
Y'know, as her human person companion: I gotta draw some boundaries. The "Hey, Pooch is warming up to Puppy Bowl" photos? I'll keep those in-house. I've probably exploited my doggie enough :).
I should find her photo of the Super Bowl she watched when the Ray Charles tribute was happening and splice it next to one of Puppy Bowl's "Bomber."
BTW: My dog is looking for a knot-hole in the fence (the boards have been replaced because she does lean on the "nosey" side and likes staring at the neighbors). A lot of wedding festivities will be taking place next-door this weekend, and she's already trying to "see" what's going on in the yard.
Too bad many of you missed the photos of her at church, in church. The sermon was about Noah and the Arc, and when she heard about animals being led two-by-two, she couldn't refrain; the minister had said something about letting out a joyful sound, and she sure did! :). I got it all on tape when I went to hear my friend sing (in her choir). My dog was invited and she loved it! She "sang" as best she could. That's my gal!
Bobbi

After the "games," my dog also sought comfort from one of her Beanie Babies; I'm calling this one: "Don't worry; there's always next year" ...
