Apparently, they merged with a huge big-shot company..I got a msg. on my phone, saying that the company had merged with Sprint..But,Dad considers this to be a good thing, instead of a nightmare,we'll see.
They switched me with no warning...

So you were "merged," not dumped. Not necessarily a bad thing. Cingular? I know a couple have merged. I have had Verizon for years and have no intentions of going anywhere else.

Actually,Sprint..
My dad was completely cool about the whole thing, was afraid he'd lose it if it means the beginning of cell phone bills...;)

Of course,I've offered to take a 2nd job,so Pops won't have to help out so much, but,he won't permit me to do that..He hasn't said why..something about him not wanting me to work weekends, somethin' like that.

Didn't they give you any warning they were going to do this, I don't understand?? Sorry that happened to you!

Nothing should change with your service, and you shouldn't incur any extra charges related to changing your service until you re-sign your contract. If your phone is incompatible with the Sprint network, you'll get a great deal on a new Sprint phone (and 7 pm nights and weekends!).
FWIW, I had Nextel until they merged with Sprint last year, and I got a Sprint phone to replace my Nextel clunker. I've had no problems with Sprint.
Good luck!

No,but,at least,my cell service wasn't turned off, after I heard the recording..And my dad was cool about the whole thing.

Who? AT+T? I still don't see why you thought your service would be turned off if they merged. They should only turn it off if your bills aren't paid. If the bills were kept up, there should never have been any danger of that.

She's talking about the Sprint-Nextel merger. Nextel merged with Sprint,
so anyone who had Nextel has to sign up with Sprint or find another cell
phone provider. The same thing happened to a friend of mine who had
AT&T. When they merged with Cingular, she had to get a new contract
with Cingular and a new phone.
