How much does overlaying sydromes affect

recovery, remission from chiari? I had decompression in April, with extraction fusion to c4, and while some of the more horrible symptoms have gone (seizures, blackouts) I still have *some* balance issues, pain, valsalva headaches, achey ankle/knee joints. That part I attribute to Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

While my surgery was a success, I still have pain, which I was really hoping would be resolved more to get off pain medication. I am still tired, and its 9 months post-op.

I am in the process of SS application and have an appt today for the physical part. I understand why...but kinda not.

Anyone else not have symptom resolution with decompression? Do you have underlying syndromes too?

Just curious..not complaining, things could be worse physically, but I sure could use the SS. And if anyone has any hints on my physical consultative exam, I'll take em!

Hey, Krash. :)

I'm sure it has a lot to do with what the specific issues are. I know a fair number of folks who have hydro and ACM, and they still experience a lot of headaches, vision, issues, balance probs, and other things that can be associated with either. I suspect that, in that case, they feed on each other.

Thanks..I did make my appt with the SS examiner. Turns out he went to Cornell with Dr Milhorat, and knew about CM1 and EDS...AMAZING..fricking amazing. Anyways, once I got over that, and the pertinent questions he asked well I had no doubt he either had patients, or did his homework. He seemed really up to speed.

Pray that he writes a good report for SS. I *think* it went well.
