Hello to everyone....it has been a long time since I have been "around". Just thought that I would post and see how everyone is doing...as for me it is all about the same. Still working with lots of you guys with cases and veterinary information. Anyway...thought I'd say hello and see how everyone is doing.

Regards,

T. Jones, DVM

Hi Dr. Jones!! Nice to see you back! I'm doing okay, on a new medication which is working pretty well and helping me get to and from school. And I have some big news: I'm graduating in May, finally! I'm very excited, but scared at the same time, but that's supposedly normal.

And my chocolate lab Codi Bear is doing well too. He's still fetching the newspaper and the mail every day. He's settled down a little bit, which is nice. He doesn't run off as much as he did, knock on wood, and can even be let out to get the newspaper without anyone going with him. A year ago, he would have bolted when given even the smallest chance. Now, he's a good little pooch, and still absolutely way too adorable!

I hope things are going well for you and that your pain isn't too bad! Glad to see you back around here! And thanks for all of your great help with my doggie!! :D

Hey Dr. J. You have been sorely missed. I'm glad you stopped in and hope you will stay.

I have thought about you a lot and wondered how you were doing. It is not easy to go thru what you have been thru.

((((Dr. J.)))) take care and hang around, ok? Julia

Dr Jones: I forgot to put this in my earlier post, but I wanted to ask your opinion on something. I read an article a week or two ago in "People" magazine about Ceser Milan, the 'dog whisperer' (now, who came up with that title and who thought it was a good idea?? It's so cheesy to me!) and how some humane-treatment-of-animals groups and people, I think including the ASPCA, are saying that his technique is cruelty to animals and that he is doing them more harm than good.

I was wondering what your take on his methods was. Do you think that his techniques are cruel or do you think his 'the people are the problem; calm-assertive energy will create submissive dog; rules, boundaries, and limitations will make you the leader of the pack so your dog will behave; and the keystone of his methods: the fullfillment method, exercise, discipline, and then affection" programs is something that'll work for most dogs, or do you think that his pinning a dog to the floor to force it into submission and other aggressive tactics are doggie abuse?

Just wondering. I think a little bit of his methods are okay and may work, but some really just look cruel and unusual. What do you think?

Erin
