I am a 24 year that has gone through a traumatic experiance that I just want to find that magic pill -that we all know is not out there :p But I wanted to know if anyone has tried Paxil CR and whether or not it worked for them for a while....had and then it slowly stopped working...I was consulting with my nurse practitioner with all of these and she adivsed me that I could do that. I was also taking clonopin .5mg a day. I got a panic attack and went deeper into my depression and anxiety. Are there other medications that help the anxiety and depression that you've found and how do I clear my system out as fast as I can of these other medications?

Dear Cam,
Sorry to hear you have had something traumatic happen, and I hope you are also able to use talk therapy to help you work through this. Your screen name indicates you have faith in God, and that makes a huge difference too.
As a fellow "survivor" of PTSD, I can tell you that I have tried lots of medications over the years to help with the depression and anxiety, and actually Effexor works the best for me. I also take Deserel at night to help with the problem of getting to sleep. This combination has worked very well for me.
As far as getting the other meds out of your system, don't stop taking things too quickly, or you can have severe reactions. Have your doctor wean you off one and onto the new med. To "clean out your system", just eat lots of good fresh vegetables and fruit, whole grains, and as little junk as possible, and that will help. There are alot of "detox" herbal remedies, but just eating whole, natural foods and lots of water is the best way.
Take care, and God Bless.
Lisa
