:) I hope I can give some advise that might help any of you that might need it. I am 45 years old and have been taking antidepressants for most of my adult life. It is just something that seems to run in one side of my family. When we get sick for an extended time or have a long time of stress then it just seems hard for our bodies to bounce back.
The first time I started with depression was post partem after a pretty rough pregnancy and delivery. Anyway....I am on more than my usual amount of antidepressants right now and I think it has been a great help to me. I doubt that I would be functioning this well without that extra boost after being bedridden for 7 weeks.
I want to encourage any of you who thinks you might need a boost to not be afraid to explore this. You would probably not be like me and take antidepressants for ever and ever. But more like the boost I am getting right now. Soon I will go off the boost and just have my normal amt of antidepressant.
Just think of it this way...your body has not gotten the sun, exercise, joy and in many cases the nutrition it is used to. All of these things effect our mood. When enough of our mood is affected for a long enough period of time then our body starts to forget how to make the happy feelings. The pathways in our brain become confused and the antidepressants help the pathways to find their way again. After awhile your pathways are fixed. I hope that makes some sense.
Best wishes all!
