Hi all, and thanks for the help and support over the last couple of years. More a lurker than anything....

Korban turned 4 in December (had shunted hydro at 2 and acquired E thereafter) and is progressing far more than anyone had expected in the medical world.

All in all I am so pleased with how he is developing, but there is one minor element I would love to work on to help. Korban is still in nappies, and has no understanding of a potty or toilet. Should the oppotunity arrise and with advise I would love him to head to "normal" school, but know this would (is) be a huge issue that would stifle his development as a happy child.

At 45 months his assessments came back as your average 30 month old, and he is developing all the time. Is there any advice you would offer me to aid his progression?

Regards

Hey, Roj. :)

If he has been assessed at 30 mo developmentally, I think it's safe to say it's on its way. :) Have him sit on the potty. (You have a child's potty, right?) Try clothed first and then bare-bottomed. (You might also model by sitting on the toilet and showing him.) It'll be a full-time job for some time, but if you can adhere to a schedule for at least a couple of weeks, and maybe even a couple months, I think he'll eventually get the hang of it. :) There will likely still be occasional accidents, but hang with it. It'll come in time.

Good luck...

LIZARD :)

*cheer*

He used his potty as it is meant to be used, and carried it to his mum afterwards (without spilling).

Lots of praise and hugs for him, but not used it since. Does sit on, and I take this as a victory from which to move forward :)
