Last Thursday I attened a workshop that Pete and Pam Wright had here in Winston and OMG! I was so impressed. I wish I had known some of the things that I learned when we had Rileys first IEP!

It was a little fast paced but overall was awesome. Everyone who attended got two books, one is the IDEA 2004 book and the other From Emotions to Advocacy... They are tools that anyone going into an IEP needs!

I heard some serious IEP horror stories and it made me feel so fortunate to have Ri where she is and know that I don't have to fight anymore.

They also had a session about test scores and went over ways to graph and track progress and regression. I hadn't ever thought about doing it in such a visual way. That is one tool I know I will be using this spring when we go over ESY services.

anyway- If they come you yoru area I would highly recommend attending!

I would have loved to attend a workshop with the Wrights many years ago and think EVERYONE who has the opportunity definately should go to their workshops. Their Wright's Law website has been on my favorites list for many years and I frequently revisit it when I have questions or concerns, usually when I am gearing up for Brandon's IEPs. Their website has been a wonderful tool and it has definately helped me be a better advocate for Brandon because I learned from that site how vitally important it is for us, as parents, to really KNOW what IDEA is and how the laws are to be used to protect our kids' rights.

Lucky you for getting to hear the Wrights firsthand. Knowledge is power! :D

they are going to be in our area in a couple of weeks but I just started a new job and can't afford to ask for the time off. I have encourage others I know who are just starting the IEP journey to go. I am hoping they will.
