I happened upon an interesting website with a lot of documentation on opioids, their use, side effects, etc. from a clinicians point of view.
It is very informative, especially the statement, "With respect to the underlying pain syndrome, opioids have been shown to be effective in essentially every pain syndrome in which they have been studied, at least in the short run;" and
" Myth: Opioids are not effective in certain types of pain, such as neuropathic pain.
Reality: There is no pain syndrome which is known to preclude the efficacy of opioids therapy."
Something tells me I need to send a certain Nurse Practitioner I know this publication. The thing is, I doubt it would do any good.
Feel free to check it out
