A friend of mine has been in my e-mail contacts list for several years.
She changed her e-mail address a couple of years ago, sent out her
new address and I changed it in my contacts list. The problem is,
every time that I get an e-mail from her, even thought it goes into
my inbox the way it should, it always has this at the top of the
e-mail:

The sender of this message, (e-mail address here), could not be verified by Sender ID. Learn more about Sender ID.

So, I click on Sender ID and get a pop-up on the right hand side of the
screen that tells me absolutely nothing about why the e-mail address
"could not be verified".

Any ideas what the problem might be?

Thanks!:)

It seems that it's a generic or automated message, probably affixed to the header of incoming mails from the person's ISP or yours.

Maybe, your friend has mail routing from an ISP, but is using a different account to transmit, at times. Say, for instance, your friend is using one account to connect (for ease or simplicity or reliabilty) and is connected through another (e.g., a work account or while on someone else's computer). The header may not seem verified, though it is, since you know whom the sender is.

Now, if you get such a message, and you aren't confident that it's from your friend, if it has file attachments, I'd check with your friend before opening any attachment.
