I can't upload my desired avatar from my computer... it just won't accept it, even though the same avatar works at other vB sites.
I've made sure it's less than 80x80 (actually, it's 63x80)

Hmmm... I don't know P.B. Maybe try uploading a different avatar (no larger than 19.5 KB) and see if that works for you. (I'd look at the KB, as well as the size you noted).

If an 80x80 will work for you, maybe re-size (up to 80x80).

Possibly, it's a temp. glitch.

Make sure that the file is a .jpg or .mpg file.
Bit map (.bmp) or other photographic file types are usually too big.
