i been having a lot of pain lately (well have been in pain for years. just getting worse lately). So the pain management doc wanted me to get a bone scan and then off to see a ruamataloguist doctor. He think that i have RA.
So i go in Friday. to see him.
he had the bone scan up and said they missed some when diagnosing so he had me do more x-rays. he said he seen arthritis in both shoulders (left far worse), where the collar bone connects to the breast bone (which never hurt until he started poking at it), rip tips (hmm beef rip tips /drool), both elbows, both wrist, both hip sockets and the back part of the hip (which again never hurt until he poked at it. then felt like someone was stabbing me) and finally both knees!
the then started messing with my fingers and found one was disfigured and it was causing me pain (x-ray and bone scan didn't show it).
good news is no damage in back or feet/toes!
since it is marked as being allergic to aspirin in my medical report he wants more lab test.
he kept asking me questions about pain. At night when in bed my knees throb. he knew exactly what i meant when i said it.
He put me on Naproxen 500mg but can't be filled until the blood work comes back. sigh.
he was very through and nice. but while getting the blood work he talked to my wife more and took off (it was like 5pm at that time heh been in there 2 hours) so i didn't get to ask him the results.
got another appointment with him i think in 2 weeks. sigh hopefully i can find out whats going on. I just want to know a reason why i am in pain all the time and always feel like i need to take a nap. sigh
But the best news is the Bears are going to the Superbowl! woot!

Waggytalk I know that you're feeling frustrated right now but when I went to see the rhematologist for the first time it turned out to be the greatest thing that I had ever done. Of course it also depends on weather this is a good doctor, but they have also of expertise in what you're referring to.
The blood work may actually show what's causing you to feel so tired all of the time so that may turn out to be a blessing too. Good luck to you and keep us posted on your results!!
BTW... the best news is the Colts are going to the Superbowl!!! Yipee!!!

I hope this appointment with the RA doctor is what finds the treatment to help you with your pain. As Lisa pointed out, if you have a good doctor they will be able to help with several issues you are facing.

the doctor seems good. he took a LOT of time with me. though he made a lot of very bad jokes. but i was able to forgive that heh.

Waggy, I want to wish you well in finding out the results of your bone scan.
Too, based on my experience with the bone scans, the films are given to the referring doc and photo copies can be provided. Sooooo, if you want copies of the films for yourself, now is the time to request such :). Otherwise, a doc will highlight or circle "hot spots" that may appear and then it's off for CT - if there are hot spots.
I'm saying this stuff so that you may be able to streamline everything - if you do as I and others do and keep copies of films made.
(I didn't know to do this prior to my latest bone scans and I ended up with hard to read copies, but knew what to tell my docs to focus on; my ortho surgeon pointed it all out.)
I haven't a preferred "team" in the Superbowl, so I'll root for whatever team brings joy to others :).

Bobbi, root for the Colts and not only will their victory bring me joy but you will be rooting for the soon to be Champions:D . Hoosiers could root for Chicago just as easy since Rex Grosman is from Bloomington, In but after all Coach Dungy went through last year around this time [his 18 year old son committed suicide] it would be nice for him to win this year as last year was to be the year.
Waggy, I am one like Bobbi that gets copies of my films and the reports for my own records. If there is ever a problem with one that gets lost on transit to your doctor then you have it covered. You also never know what will happen and if you will need them but 17 years ago I thought I had one spinal problem that would be fixed and I would coach football and teach until I was seventy. After three spinal surgeires and continuing deterioration of my spine I became unable to work at 47. Collecting my material for disability has been easy because I have the films and reports for all my scans. It is easier to start no than years later. Enjoy the Bears NFC title and watch a good game Super Bowl Sunday but be prepared to see the Colts crowned Super Bowl Champions:D .

Waggytalk, but I already have a Colts shirt, lol!!
Truthfully I like the Colts alot but I have so much respect for Dungy. After all he did coach the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and I do live here.
All jokes aside may the BEST team win!!!!
Also I do agree with Mark. Please keep copies of everything that you're given and ask for anything you think you should have. Records of our health is most importannt if you ever file for SSA disability.
