My dad and his sister (my aunt) both had to have surgery on those.

Are they hereditary? Or just a coincidence?

I have a lot of pain in my shoulder joint - not sure if it's cause I have lax ligaments, or if it is a different problem.

I am the only one in my Family to have shoulder problems. Cant recall anyone else parents Uncles aunts so I guess its not Hereditery.. Ive had (5) surgerys thus far and thats part of why I am here.. Each surgery made it worse. :(

Curiousforever I don't know the answer to your question but I was thinking that maybe you could google it and find out or simply ask your doctor the next time you see him/her. Wishing you a pain free day!!

curious, my wife had this problem with her shoulder and was recommended to have the surgery. She was unwilling to go the surgical route and decided to try OsteoBiFlex. You will find it at the drugstore, I am really bad about remember the names of what is in it but it is a common joint treatment. It may work but if it doesn't it is an easy thing to try first.

ps I looked up the names - it is a combination of Glucosamine and Chondroitin; I hope it works as well for you as it has my wife.

I think it comes from our log rolls and pulling ourselves up! I have two since surgery...but I also have arthritis in both shoulders....I think surgery might have something to do with it too...It is the positioning and movement during surgery. I just had my hand operated on and now my shoulder is killing me...The shoulders are next..

Gloria,

I think you are right...those dreaded log rolls! They are hard to do sometimes. But rolling over onto our shoulders could cause these problems. So, I think you are onto something there. After this second fusion I wasn't thinking one morning and pulled myself up as any normal person COULD do and OMG that hurt!

I wish you well with your hand and hope you can get some relief for your shoulder. :)
