I take two every morning and still sleep a lot during the day. It is also causing my blood pressure to elevate.

I love it and feel it works perfectly with no undesirable side effects. I'm awake and alert so I am able to do standard things, not as much as I used to, but it is better than without Provigil. It lowers my appetite, which is good since I need to lose some weight, and that's the only other side I have. If you live in the USA, expect a problem since it's $500 a month and I am waiting to see if my insurance company will cover it.

I take Provigil on PRN basis (although I have taken it on a daily basis at times) and for the most part, have had almost no side effects. I take due to fatigue from day time and nocturnal seizures (hence my body gets little "real" sleep) and side effects from meds, and while it is not a cure all , it does help me to function a lot better. I still get tired--so it doesnt solve that problem, but helps in the fact that my body is not always in the "want to or about to fall a sleep" mode and improved my quality of life.

My Experience: Timing-- for me, I have to make sure I timed it right. For me, figuring out this was a lot of trial and error, but generally it takes about 2-3 for it to full kick in, works about 6 hours and wears off. If I need to take second dose(my daily dose amount varies), I just make sure I take it about an hour before it starts to wear off.
Side effect wise-- for the most part, none. I tend to get a little jittery( NOT like a "high" type jittery though--more just a move around type jittery), but it actually improves my focusing and attention (most likely because I am not quite so tired), and overall alertness so it isn't really bothersome.

Dosing-- I currently take 100-200 mg PRN.

Hope it works for you !

:) GNW

ps-- btw-- I am still able to sleep fine at night

Hi,
I was taking Provigil once before and it was approved through VA. Now that I quit VA, (care was awful), I am on the outside. I missed it while I was off of it. Now my PM doc has prescribed it for me. He gave me a sample for seven days and it has worked beautifully. No side effects except the appetite but like mforce, I could stand to lose 50lbs. LOL I am waiting now to see if insurance will cover it. It needed a prior authorization and my dr. knew that going in. So I am praying it gets approved. I feel liked I have my life back now and would hate to go back to the way it was before.

I was given provigil to help give me some quality time. After using up my allotment of samples, my insurance would not cover it. My PM put me on Strattera which has helped me focus quite a bit.

Eppy, my doc gave it to me and I never took it. It just seemed such a stupid thing to do. Take a pill to sleep, take one to wake up. Are you taking it? How long does it keep you awake?

Hugs,
kathy:)

I was on provigil but made my back pain worse.

THat does not make good scientific sense. Did it give you energy to allow you to do more to make your back hurt?

I'd retry it- we know your doctor has the 1 week sample pack in his closet. Go ahead, give it a try.

I am not on the consultant board for Cephalon nor am I paid for this post.

I do like the drug as it is the only non-amphetamine stimulant. I tried it before for a long drive and it gave me heartburn- but it could have been the coffee and screaming kids. :D

Hi UVA,
I am taking it once a day in the morning 200 mg. It doesn't make me high or jumpy at all and it allows me to sleep normally at 10pm. I am still waiting for my insurance to approve it. So far, I haven't heard anything. I wish they would hurry up because I feel like I will have my life back if I take it. I only got a sample pack from my PM doc and it was wonderful. Hope this helps.

Perhaps...I have a tendency to tense up, and while some things don't make scientific sense I do know that it did affect me this way.
I find that I am extremely sensitive to medications, and usually have to titrate any medication up to avoid adverse reactions.

Hi,
Insurance denied it. I'm in ****. No life for me unless a letter of appeal will approve it.
