The best accolade I heard after I quit:
A couple of months after quitting I was talking to a neuro surgeon about impending surgery to remove my brain tumor. I told him that I had quit and he tucked his chin down, placed the papers he was holding back on his desk and was silent a few seconds. Then he looked up at me and said, "Nancy, quitting smoking is more important for you health than me removing this tumor".
Wow

My doctor said something similar to me after I quit (although it wasn't about anything as dramatic or important as talking about a brain tumor). Anyway, he told me carrying even 50 extra pounds (or more) wouldn't be as harmful to my overall health (and COPD) as continuing to smoke would have been!! :) He's still very pleased and I believe somewhat surprised when we talk about my 'stop smoking anniversary' and how many years it's been for me as an EX-smoker! :D
Isn't that a rewarding and self-satisfying feeling??

:D Wow !! :D
CONGRATULATIONS LISA
That is wonderful -- that you made it through the aneurysms* and that you quit smoking. My goodness - what a time you've had and what a trooper you are. Bless your heart, your brain :p and your strength . We're so glad to see you here.
Teddiebears will be along to add you name to the grand list of quitters. I was so proud to see my name on that list ... lol ... I still love to see it.
*anueryms/aneurysms  I can't spell anything and that word is not in my dictionary. My turmor was an "oligodendroglioma"... find that in a dictionary - lol

It's always a pleasure to have another member here in our little "stop smoking club". :D
As jingle already said -
CONGRATULATIONS ON ONE MONTH SMOKE-FREE!!!
Lisa - You certainly should be proud of your accomplishment. Being able to say you are an ex-smoker feels good, doesn't it?? :D
I'm sorry it took going through surgeries for brain aneurysms to push you to the point of being able to finally quit - but, it seems to have worked well for you!! :D That's what is important!!
