I had a CT scan of my lungs on December 18 which showed "peripheral patchy areas of ground glass opacities bilaterally and a pulmonary nodule in the right posterior lung base laterally measuring 1.5cm and multiple nodes throughout the mediastinum primarly in the pretrachael space and subchondral region, indicating underlying adenopathy.

I had my follow-up CT today, which showed no changes, even though I did a 14 day round of leavaquin antibiotic, and I have been on a prednisone taper since December 18th.

Can anyone tell me if this is indicative of intersitial lung disease or some type of lung cancer? I would have thought if it was inflammatory in nature (they thought maybe pneumonia) that there would have been some resolution by know.

Any ideas would be great.

I am not able to tell you what that CT result means. However, since you have had some kind of antibiotic AND prednisone with no obvious improvement or even change, I think it is safe to say that you need more attention from the medical community. If you have not already seen a pulmonologist, I think it is appropriate for you to ask for a referral to that kind of lung specialist.

There will probably be many more tests and opinions, but from what this shows, it is warranted. Just my humble opinion. Cheerio.

as a respiratory therapist i think you need a bronchocosopy, where they can also do a biopsy if they think necessary once they get in there. they would give you a mild sedative a put a long thin scope down your throat into your lungs to lung aroun and maybe take a piece for biopsy, which should probably be done. IMHO

Go to a good pulmonary doc. Bring all your films, even old films labs etc. with you. Best wishes.
