Hi dahlek and Pansy again.

Just wanted to say thanks very much for your reply, Pansy.

p.s. You might be interested in this news from Australia a couple of days ago. Herceptin has this week been listed on our Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme. I heard that this would bring down the cost from approx. $1000 Au per dose to approx $30 Au per dose. I'm not sure if what was reported is absolutely correct, but it's close.

PBS listings - Department of Health and Ageing Australia (http://www.health.gov.au/internet/ministers/publishing.nsf/Content/health-mediarel-yr2006-ta-abb134.htm?OpenDocument&yr=2006&mth=9)
"Herceptin® (trastuzumab) will be available to treat patients with HER2 positive early stage breast cancer, following surgery. Breast cancer affects 14,000 Australians each year. Of these, around 2,000 people have HER2 positive breast cancer. The listing of Herceptin® should significantly improve health outcomes for patients and will cost $470 million between 2006-07 and 2009-10.

The listing of the cancer drugs docetaxel (Taxotere®) and pa****axel (Taxol® , Anzatax®, Pa****axel Ebewe®) will also be extended for the treatment of early breast cancer at a cost to the Government of $35.7 million over four years. About 3,000 patients over four years will benefit from this change."

I have reyn's email address so I'll email this thread to her.

I also have been wondering how she is doing as I haven't been able to reach her by phone and I haven't received any replies from her.
