Hello everyone. I think most of you know me by now. I have had three spinal fusions one was small and it only covered 3 lumbar disc when I was six years old. The first major 360 spine fusion from T5 to my Pelvis with Harrington rods was when I was 16 in 1988. The last major 360 re-fusion was due to a non union (Pseudoarthrosis) which broke a Harrington rod, which they replaced with two new Harrington rods and two pedicle screws back in 2000 when I was 30. For the past four years I have had chronic pain and have been on Avinza 90mg which is Morphine and now I am on the Patch 50mcg. My back is the major reason I applied for SSD although I have a few other lifelong problems such as difficulty breathing and a recurrent urethral stricture that can only be fixed with a complete urethral reconstruction. I also had surgery for carpel tunnel in OCT of this year. I applied in Sept 2006 for disability and two weeks ago my social worker called and asked me to go have a breathing test to see if my scoliosis was really causing a problem. I went this past Wed and had the test. It is the type of test where you breath in and blow out as hard as I could. The name for the test is Pulmonary Function Test. After the test I asked the technician how I did compared to others my age. I am only 35 years old. She said I scored 32% on the part with no bronchial dilator and 35% with the medicine. She told me the results mean I am severely disabled without medicine and I am disabled with the medication. My question is do you think this is enough for them to declare me disabled since that is the test they were wondering about. They told me they have all the paperwork for my spine problems, urinary problems, and Carpel tunnel problems. Do you think I will get a decision or do you think they will send me to a psychiatrist now because I also take Lexapro for depression. Thanks so much Brian

Hi Brians2000!! SSA works differently on many cases. Just because you're on an A/D dosen't mean that you will have to see their psychiatrist. Sounds like your condition that renders you disabled has already been checked by their doctor and that will most likely be sufficient. Always remember though that SSA works things in their own way in their own time.
I'm wishing you a speedy approval!!
