Greetings,
Does anyone know much about PSSD testing for peripheral neuropathy?
PSSD (Pressure Specified Sensory Device) interests me, so far, in order to get some baseline information about my state of PN.
Thanks!

it seems to be a fairly new device for sensory testing of PN in diabetics.
From what I read it's not standard approved procedure that most insurance companies will cover as it's not 'established' a track record. That doesn't mean it doesn't work, mind you.
Diagnosing neuropathies can be an experience where a doc will look at you, prick at you, take your blood for tests and go 'AH, PN, take these pills..it's all we can do for you' or,.. go thru the rounds of tests.
For beginning, www.Neuroexam.com is a good site to begin to understand what neuro exams are done and why. An excellent site is www.lizajane.com which was developed by a board participant as they went thru the diagnosis maze. A very detailed site is www.neuro.wustl.edu/neuromuscular/alfindex.htm - this site will give you an idea of the neuro issues that have to be gone thru to determine a specific diagnosis. There are MANY.
Since there are many on the boards who have gone 'that route', getting what seem like zillions tests done with definitive or vague diagnoses, if you provide a bit more about your situation, I'm sure someone is here who can address your concerns specifically. Hope this helps! - j

Thanks, J., helpful suggestions and web sites. For sure, I can get lost at wustl's neuro web site and have done so in the past 3 years of my PN issues.
www.lizajane.org is the correct URL and that too is a helpful site.
I still would like to know if anyone had sought out PSSD testing for PN status.
Mine is mixed motor and sensory, asymetrical, mosty numb feet and saddleside with GI complications that all came along with non-Hodgkins lymphoma (prior to treatment)

treatments? Some 'cures' create or aggravate the initial problems of PN...
Various types of chemo and rads [chemo especially] either make for PN problems or have existing problems from other conditions get worse.
I'm going to PM you re some specific aspects at wstul's site to zero in on...depending on what you've been thru to date...
Do you know that Wally-World. as it is referred to by some, now has DUCT tape in some very vibrant colors other than dull-metal silver? Do you think we should put in a group order ... to kind of help keep ourselves together?
Handicap Blue or Traffic Warning yellow/orange?
Really good thoughts to all! - j
