Hi,

I have had 3 doses of Tysabri so far and it is definitely helping a whole lot - YEAH! However, I have been having 2 very strange, and nice, side effects, and wanted to ask if any of you have had this happen. To be clear, no drugs have changed, I have no new diseases etc. The only change has been the Tysabri and the side effects started right after dose #2 when the neurological improvements started.

The two side effects (probably related):

1. I have a lot of moles, and a pretty good number of raised (non-cancerous) ones. Raised moles that I have had for decades have completely vanished. Others have become flat and are shrinking. I had made an appointment with my dermatologist to have one removed that was pretty big and ugly and when I went it was totally flat and about 1/3 the size.

She was flabbergasted at the number that had vanished and is going to do some reading about Tysabri. She keeps a "mole map" so she was able to verify (and she remembered) that the moles that had vanished were there and had now gone.

The ones that vanished all leave depigmented areas.

2. I always get somewhat raised scars from surgery and/or accidents that needed stitches. Every scar I have has ceased to be raised at all and some are now hard to find - color is disappearing too. Some of these scars I got from surgery when I was a teenager (I am 53). In other words - these raised scars are as much as 40 years old.

I got a really bad cut from a chisel way into my finger 3 weeks ago. The 6 stitches came out less than a week ago and there is no visible sign that they were ever there. The finger still has swelling and the stitches were not done by a plastic surgeon - it was basic emergency room stitching which ALWAYS leaves a good sized scar.

If any of you other Tysabri users have scars or moles, please look and see if you see any difference. The number of moles and scars is way too many to be some chance occurance.

Anyone have a possible explanation???????

no not that I can tell,, I have had 5 infusions thus far,, since September, and given the 6 months mark for improvement, { I gave it this long}, I am not at all impressed with this drug,, granted I am thrilled you are seeing improvement,,, I knew you were hoping for the best on this drug,, and am glad you have found your niche..

moles,, none,, scars,, they are fine,

neuro said he sees me slipping but wants me to continue with the Tyasbri, maybe it will take hold yet,, time is a factor,,,

I'm sorry the Tysabri hasn't helped you. How long does the neuro want you to keep trying it? Do you have an idea what you would try next?
