This website is dedicated to all people suffering from ALS/ MND.

The intention of ALS-project is to release free software to help those who lose strenght of their muscles.

Such software already exists, but it's expensive and some can't afford to buy it (in some countries it's not even available). That's why I decided to program such a software myself.

ALS-Project is a dynamic work in progress, living on the high motivation of [people all around the world].

Functions of the software are being steadily improved and extended.

This software is also suitable for people suffering from MS (Multiple Sclerosis), ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), Arthrosis and other forms of Muscle Dystrophia.

You can download the latest version of the software on the [download page].

Please note that you need WindowsXP to run the software!

To see the ALS-Project-Software in action, please click [here]!

Functions of the software:

A virtual multilanguage "On Screen" keyboard that types for you if you move the mouse over the characters on the keyboard. Also, with a special button users with Non-Western keyboards can easily switch from e. g. Arabic characters to Roman characters, for example when typing internet addresses.

Integrated mouse click buttons: You don't need to tip on the real mouse buttons anymore do to mouse clicks. If you need a mouse click, just pick it up from a special button on the screen.

Work in progress:

Steering of the mouse pointer on the computer screen by eyes using only an ordinary webcam.

I also read about a beta program called "Model Talker" that allow you to "voice bank" your own speech so that a voice synthesis program can speak in your own voice. This is great if you still can speak clearly but expect it will get worse. Some links are:

I hope this is helpful. I am tyring it out for this week for myself and have no opinion yet if it is any good but, at least, it is free to download.

Good luck,
Steve

ps - I've seen in other posts that linking to other products is a sensitive issue in these forums. To be clear, I am brand new PALS and have absolutely no affiliation with anything related to our condition - just a guy trying to prepare as best he can.
