Hi Everyone..After some thought I decided to post the Weekly Check-In on both BT-1 and BT-2 because I believe it is good for the communities..Unfortunately it seems that our group has splintered, number one over the lengthy downtime of BT-1..And number two over the banning of 5 of our veteran community members just prior to the crash..Due to the latter I have decided that I will still contribute here, but if those 5 members are not re-instated, and the matter brought to a favorable conclusion between the parties involved, then my heart will remain at BT-2, because I will have no part of an oppressive atmosphere..Banning is a punishment suited for trolls, and not justifyable for good people who have been members in good standing for years, and who have contributed and helped countless other ailing folks..Some of these members very seldom leave their homes because of the advanced state of their pd, and depend on online message boards for the support, info, and communication to the outside world..So these are my feelings on the subject..So untill the deciding moment is upon us I will continue to post this thread every week, that is unless you folks who have decided to remain here have something else in mind..I just feel that the subject needs to be addressed..Thanks!
Welcome new community members..Thank You for joining us and contributing..We hope you will continue to join us
Not a very eventful week..I thought that I had my boat sold, but the guy called me back and changed his mind..So its back to square one..Trouble is nobody wants to get in the fishing business anymore, and theres only a select group of people who can get involved because you cant get a license to fish anymore so there arent any newcomers getting into the industry
I started fishing again yesterday, and although it feels good to get out and do something, I pay the price when I get done, but I'll be damned if Im gonna let that stop me..At least I can still bounce back with a good nap..If it were a deal where it would put me down for a few days, then I would have to stop fishing altogether..Other than that I met with my lawyer to get my moms estate settled, and it should get probated in about a month
So thats my week..How is everyone doing this week?

Hi Steve, Glad to see you here too - I understand where you are coming from in all you say.......
But it is GOOD you are posting here!!!
Well, I have made the move to my new home, it is so liberating to be here, I had forgotten what a comfy home feels like, and this is so good, and it feels like we have a new start at last. I chose somewhere with stairs, to look after my heart, rather than thinking about mobility issues, and my legs are responding to the challenge well! I am in the process of making an area where I can make art, something I have not had for 10 years, and this feels really good, and what I want to be doing..... and the best bit is it is all so easy to keep, apologies if I am gushing a bit, but this is the first time I have felt excited by anything for so long ........... I have worked my socks off to make it as nice as I can and already it looks really homey. I had wondered how I would cope with it all, but surprised myself. All in all a great confidence booster!
Steve, I thought you were through with fishing when I saw you had sold your boat, but I guess it's not quite time yet .....
The weather here is turning and the nights are getting long, it seems as though this year is in a hurry to get away...
Wishing you all a good week
Lindy xx

It's good to have BT up and running again. I never new about the problems. I'm glad Steve wrote his weekly greeting as before. It makes a person feel welcome and around friends. I was a new member before it went done and was just starting to recognize members, so I just wanted to say hello to all and hope you have more good days than bad.

Steve,
thank-you for posting in both places. This place was my first home, but I do hope that the issues get resolved both fairly, and soon.
I am so sorry that your boat deal fell through...but having another chance on the seas must have almost felt worth it. Sorry about payback time.
I just mopped my very small kitchen floor, and I'm feeling the effects. Probably about a 7 on the ol pain o'meter.
I hope that the leaves are beautiful where you are. i truly miss them. They have promised a gorgeous fall, but, ah...New England and upstate NY....
Take care everyone!

Lindy..Good luck with your new home..I am doing a different kind of fishing now, with a smaller boat..Something that I can do part time..The other boat I was fishing with is too big and requires that I had to fish more often to keep up with the expenses..I still own it but it has been for sale since the late spring

Well, my neuro is switching me to Stalevo from Mirapex. I'm waiting for the Stalevo to come from the mail order pharmacy. The Mirapex may have caused the problems I am having emptying my bladder. Hopefully the medication switch will go smoothly without unwanted side effects .
It is good to see this weekly check in again. I missed it all summer. Even though I didn't post a lot, I always looked forward to reading it. I kept checking every few days to see if braintalk was back. I was starting to think it would never be back, when finally it was there again!

I found my way back and I'm glad to see some of you are already here. Its true that you don't miss something until you lose it. Its been a great summer and I have managed to stay busy without too many setbacks from my P.D. Andrew, it is good to hear you are doing so well and that you have met someone. I also have a new friend that I have enjoyed spending time with, I didn't think that would be possible at this point in my life. We had a Thanksgiving dinner yesterday and got together with everyone in the family. My grandson is the joy of my life, he is three years old now and talks like an adult. Its so funny to listen to him chatter away. I also have a pet Cockatiel named Sabrena. She is only 4 months old and I am hoping she will talk. The weather is beautiful, sunny and warm, what more could you ask for. I look forward to getting back up to date with everyones posts.
Glad to be back.

Hi All - since I had been in lurking mode for a long time, I didn't realize that there were problems in the ranks.
Tiger (husband) has more difficulties with his PD and/or MS over the summer and was to have cervical fusion in Sept. Unfortunately as the operation begin, he "coded" and was brought back. NOW we know he has heart problems as well as his neurological "difficulties"
Glad to hear that some of you had a good summer, hope that it continues into fall and winter!

Hello everyone,
It's a cold, wet and miserable morning here in England. As Lindy said the days are drawing in - dark evenings and mornings now. The trees are changing colour and my garden looks sadly dull as the annuals have gone leggy and stopped flowering. As you can tell, not my favourite part of the year! Stop at home more and that with the damp days always seem to worsen symptoms!
Eve - it's nice having someone special isn't it!!!
Judy - good to see you here again and I hope Tiger is doing ok.
Lindy - a move!! So much missed good news!! Be happy x
Steve - for you - thank you. Enjoy fishing!
Pegleg, mama, Melba and Chicory - well, I'm sure not going to you miss you out!! So few of us, but it's better a few than nothing at all. Glad your here xx

hello everyone--steve, thank you for explaining the banning and making your comments about a reinstatement of the 5 individuals involved. I was unaware of all the individuals involved, though I knew "CS" had been banned when I tried to private message him to find out how he was coping with his wife's illness. I was truly appalled that someone would ban this man who had just exposed the anguish he was dealing with regarding his wife's diagnosis. How utterly insensitive can a forum devoted to "support" in health matters be. I, too hope the administration reinstates these 5 individuals...madelyn

Steve,
It's good to have you pick up where you left off. You have a gift of being able to make others feel welcome and I know that it's appreciated. I bet you could read a ton of other links and rarely find the camaraderie, and the sincere level of caring for each other that we experience here. What I also admire about the Parkinson's site is that, for the most part, we don't wallow in self pity. Oh, don't get me wrong, we have our days, and our ups and downs but, for the most part, we rally around each other and truly get to know one another. It's not a superficial friendship.
One quick question ... how do I access BT-2? Are there really two forums up and running now? How very sad because united, as a group, we can do so much more than we can divided.
