View Full Version : Numbness is spreading

My numbness is back with a vengeance. Numb is my entire right leg, right foot, both buttocks and now my left foot.
When this came up last year, I had a CT scan done because we were worried it was a granuloma from my pump. Tests came through clean. The numbness simmered down and came back only occasionally. But now it seems to be getting worse and I am very worried.
Has anyone had this? Is it RSD? Any advice?
Love,
Coleen

Hi Coleen,
Sorry this is bothering you again.
Is it possible you have a lumbar disk problem and you are doing some activity that is aggravating it?
I hate to bring this up, and do not mean to frighten you at all, but have you been checked out for MS? I'm only bringing this up as something to explore, more to rule it out than anything. My daughter's first MS attack was numbness in her foot. Each attack was progressively worse and involved more parts of her body.
I do hope you get this figured out and get some relief.
Take care,
Julie
Hello Coleen,
I would have a lumbar CT to rule out new or renewed disc issues. It happened to me when one of my lumbar discs' reherniated not long after surgery. I have also had those same symptoms after overdoing things. The doctor told me that it might be from nerve root irritation and sure enough we have been able to make a connection. The problem is that I never know when I have done too much until after it was too late. Then it usually takes a few days for things to settle down again.
Take care,
EJ

Thanks so much for the replies.
EJK: I had a CT scan last year and there was a slight bulge of one of my disks. Connection? I'm thinking yes. I know we both have pumps and I trust you.
My numbness has settled down and I am doing well again. Like you said it's hard to know when you overdo things.

Coleen,
I am glad to see that your numbness has settled down and that you are doing better. My last lumbar CT also showed a couple bulging; it is like a cat and mouse game that keeps you wondering, what next?
It just bugs me that I don't have some kind of warning light that will come on and tell me when to steer myself out of some of this trouble. Trial and error doesn't work too well because you don't have a clue where the line is until pain strikes with a vengence - not good. Then too, we would probably never stretch our limits if we had warnings.
It is good to hear from you. I had been wondering how you were doing.
Take care,
EJ

Hi my question is about ms, I see it mentioned frequently here. Is it something that frequently follows RSD. I have large patches of mumbness down my spine on eithre side but primarly the left side. No feeling what so ever. dead. of course my spine always hurts, burning aching. etx. but spots next to it nothing , I could be stuck with a pin? my mri 's are clear for disc problems. any adivice.. should I be worried. thanks, Lisle
