Hey Mike, I have 8 Grands and one of them is named Myah Grace...needless to say I love the name Lola Grace..:D Is Roman a boy or girl? I like that name too.

Iraq, Iran, the whole MidEast...Baugh, who knows. I do know that GWB is going to have his work cut out for him in an OK from the New (Yea) Congress, in approving his wanted increase for Troups being sent to Iraq.

My DIL/SO is in the Army and stationed in Iraq and My SSon is on a work contract in Kuwait and asking for a transfer to Iraq, so that he can be closer to his Darling SO. They were stationed in Hawaii, which I hear is much nicer than Iraq.:D

I worry constantly about them both....and all our children, brothers, sons and daughters, there.

A moment of silence for our Fallen Soldiers. :(

Keep on Keeping on, Mike.;)

Hey, Mike. It is so good hearing your thoughts. My daughter, Katie, is almost finished with AIT in the Army. We do not know where she will be going after that. I am afraid since troops in Iraq seem to be already increasing. They make it look as if increasing troops is a debate...but...they are already doing it!!! But, I have trust in God, have belief in my country, and have hopes for the future of this crazy world. Yeah, George has made some big errors, and that is hard for someone who was a die-hard fan to say. But, I am hopeful that the war in Iraq will either be handled as it should have been from the beginning...or we get out. Pee, or get off the pot.

Iran??? Now, there is a situation that leaves me with my mouth hanging open!!!! I can't say that I am so sure of what my country is saying about them. But, I CAN believe that when the people of Iraq (the good and the bad) say that they will fight to the death to keep Iran out...and when they call THAT country "The Great Satan" (as they have called us), there is a major problem. But, it just has me...like I say...with my mouth hanging open. Glad I dan't have to lead the country. Scary situation.

Global warming??? Sorry. I don't believe in it. Our planet has gone through many changes since its creation, and not a one was ever sparked by aerosol spray, cow farts, and chemical emissions. Yeah, I believe we are killing ourselves by trying to save ourselves. Too much added to make food more palatable, more beautiful, supposively more safe. But, I believe that the melting of the polar caps are just another phase in our planet.

I have one little grand daughter, but her mother and my son are at pemanent odds. She won't let me see the child, and informed me that anything I send to her is thrown out. I miss out on her life...but, I manage...and distance makes it hurt less over time. I am looking forward to the day when I can have grand children and enjoy them. Yeah, "Ya done good".

As far a cannabis goes, I am from the days of the original Woodstock hippies. I smoked in those days, but I pass on it these days. Even for pain. I just do not ever want to relive those days of yore.

Good hearing from you. Good to have a little tete-a-tete.

Your friend.....sally

Sorry, but with my hubby being active duty Army, and from speaking with 100's of troops that have been to Iraq (literally 100's....) only ONE has said we shouldn't be there.

I believe in GWB, I believe in what we're doing. And I believe the soldiers. I don't listen to the media, mainly because they don't mention the GOOD things the troops are doing. They only broadcast the few bad apples.

What I find interesting is that Congress is who approved the war. Democrats also approved it. The war was NOT for oil. It was NOT ONLY for WMD (which they found sarin gas at the very least - and yes most things of that type were given to them by other countries including the US for the Iraq/Russian war.

It was also because Saddam refused to let inspectors into the country and because he would allow his staff and relatives to rape and torture women and children and men would disappear in the night never to be seen again, as well as gassing people.

What I find ironic is that the same people pissing and moaning about how we shouldn't be in Iraq 'policing the world', believe we should now go to Dafur. Those are the same people that would have bashed Bush had we *not* gone to war and had another attack on American soil.

Failures on this issue actually go back to the Regan era.

And with some issues, since the UN is pretty useless, America is forced to step in....

Mixed emotions for me, it's difficult when you have family that's involved. My brother is a pilot in the Air Force and has just been promoted to Lt. Colonel so I am proud of him and his service. My dad was also in Vietnam and served as a Flight Surgeon in 67-68. When I look back on Nam it makes even less sense to me than Iraq, although there is no question that things have gotten pretty ugly over there.

We lost nearly 60,000 men in Vietnam from 1965 to 1973. We've been in Iraq now for four years and have lost 3,000 men. In military terms, that's not many but try telling that to a mother, father or wife who has lost her husband over there. People also forget that there are many serious casualties we don't here about, probably over 20,000 wounded, many seriously, will our country be kinder to them than they were to the wounded who returned from Vietnam? I sure hope so.

I've read many historical books about WW2 and the battles that were fought, especially between the Germans and the Russians, it was not uncommon to see 10 or 15 thousand men lost in one battle! During the battle of Stalingrad, there were probably close to 800,000 men lost in a seven month period, difficult to imagine. More than the entire Civil War and in only seven months! A total of two million casualties from August of 1942 to Febuary of 1943.

WW2 was "total war" no one bothered attempting to spare the lives of civilians, especially the Germans, who made it a point to destroy an entire city by relay bombing runs before attempting to move in, the more dead, the better, as far as they were concerned.

Even the US and UK firebombed cities and killed hundreds of thousands of civilians, especially in Japan towards the end of the war. Fireboming killed more people in Japan than both Atomic bombs. And then there was the Holocaust. All told, WW2 cost the world more than 60 million lives.

So yeah, in retrospect, things could be a lot worse over there but in the scheme of things, we'd be a lot better off right now as a country had we not invaded Iraq. IMHO

I too hope the stem cell thing works out and certainly hope we are headed in the right direction.

As for global warming, if you take a look at the statistics I believe it IS real. I moved from Minnesota to Kentucky in 1997 and since I've lived here, we've only had one winter (in ten years) that has been below normal temperature wise and we continue to set record after record for average monthly temperatures.

We normally average around 16 inches of snow per year here in Kentucky. However, we have only reached that mark once in the 10 years that I've been here, in 1998. There are probably millions of statistics that I could rattle off regarding the warming of the Earth but I'll spare you.;) "Global Warming," "Global Change," call it what you will but I believe it's here to stay. Or, to put it bluntly, we are passed the point of no return.

I agree with you on the grandchildren. What a blessing they are! I am still a long way away from that (I HOPE!), but I guess that's what happens when a person waits till they are practically old enough to be a grandparent before having their kids.

Hope you are doing well and Happy New Year!

Grassman - please do not be offended, even though for some reason I get the feeling you won't :). You sound like an awesome guy, and congrats on the new addition to your family :)

I can give my best guess, Jena.

Grassman is a thinker, but also very funny, particularly in person. But then again, who wouldn't be if they smoked pot every 4 hours (so that their bedridden existance was bearable)? He's Canadian though, so we are allowed to do that. :p

His threads mean something different to everyone, I suspect. Some of us use this opportunity to vent about something we might not otherwise mention, and we often we go off in many directions. These threads generally get a lot of postings/views, probably because many of us like the "non-conformity" (is that a word?:p) of them.

As for duck tape, everything Grassman owns is taped up around him in bed; his phone, pen, computer ... everything! He should own shares in that company!

You've got a lovely family, Grassman! Those little ones are precious...I think I'd have to have them duct taped right next to me.

Hey, have you ever thought of duct taping Morgan to the side of your bed so that he can't get into trouble?! LOL
