Hi Tracey!

Yeh I did a (long) introduction post:

This One (http://brain.hastypastry.net/forums/showthread.php?t=7042)

I'm male, newly married to a lovely woman who refuses to quit while she's ahead. Kind of a shitty wedding present, but you get that. Well, I do.

We have a 3 year old son and a Devourer of Worlds in feline form named Doomsday.

Its quite hot up here but I live in an a 24/7 airconditioned environment pretty much. Heat fatigue destroys me when I do have to spend a lto of time outside so if I had to live without my lovely airconditioner I would probably have to move :D

How's things for you Tracey?

Hi Macca,
I went and read your intro.

How's things with me you ask?????????????? Wow! I bet you wish you didnt ask that one. :D

Things havnt been too flash at all but I wont bore you with it right now. IF you want all the latest then let me know and maybe it might be better to do it as a private message instead.

The people on here have put up with me for 7 + years complaining and whinging. YES I am a Pommie by birth. ;) But have lived so long here that i consider myself an Aussie , but not on Paper. Have never gotten around to doing it. Maybe one day i will.

Great to have another aussie on board. Welcome Macca.

Go the Eagles. Just thought I would add that after seeing somewhere that you were from Sydney yes?????

Go the a/c. We had it when we lived in Qld and then also when we lived in Perth we had a/c also coz the heat is just sooooooooooooooo not good for me.
Down here it is fine. We do have a few hot days but the house we are in feels like it has an a/c anyway. But it's soooooooooo bloddy cold in winter.
I am not sure how things work over in Banana country but here IF I wanted an a/c then I can get a Grant from Lotterywest up to $1500 due to having MS and as I live in a Purposely Built Disability Government house than they will install it but we dont need it. Rather some-one else have that money.

I have had alot of help from other depts over the years. The biggest being that I just took possession of my brand new motorised wheelchair early dec. All govt funded. Nearly 6K worth. I love it.

Typical woman heh! Babble Babble Babble.

Gotta go and get some zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz's.

Take care my friend and love to the family
Tracey. (also known as the Hippie Chick from Down Under)

I lived in Oz and NZ for 5 yrs, and I really don't know how you bear that heat  . In fact it was one month after I returned home that I had my first MS attack.

I lived in Cairns for several months and worked at the Hydes hotel. Is it still there McCarthy? Oh so many good memories ~ you ozzies are too much fun!! :)

Your posting just reminded me of when I visited Cape Tribulation for a week. If I remember correctly, it's one of the only places with salt water crocs, and it was 42 degrees (c) up there. After about 4 hrs in that heat, I just stripped down, jumped in the water, and dared the crocs to "eat me, you bas^&*@$". They didn't though, so maybe they knew something I didn't at the time. :D

Nice to have you aboard, McC. BTW, still got lots of toads everywhere?

Hi Tracey, I'm another Queenslander!

BTW I use to live in qld. Lived there for 9 years in Ipswich. Hated it. Too bloody hot for this ole lady.

I was actually in Ipswich yesterday - we went so my husband could drive a race car (anniversary present from a loving wife...) It was SOOOO HOT out there! So many $*@&#^% FLIES!!!! And it wasn't even really "hot" yesterday! How did you do it for nine years?!?!?!? If I recall correctly, your hubby was an RAAF man? Was he at Amberley RAAF base?

We live about 4km north of Brisbane city and we get nice breezes off the bay - but I still couldn't be without my airconditioner...

Hi Cherie,
I will answer your question about the Toads. We had sh*tloads when we lived over there and the horrid things are moving across the country. Pests they are. They are in North WA so they are on the move. Here in the West we have a group of people who call themselves the Toad Busters, or something like that and they go around and catch Cane Toads.

What i do miss about Qld though is the cute little Green Frogs we had heaps of. I am a frog lover. Have heaps of Froggie things around my home, including some articles of clothing as well. I have everything. Well almost.

Whenever some-one sees anything froggie they think of me. :D
My Scooter (Gopher) is called the Green Machine and has frog stickers all over it and a soft squishy frog stuck to the front basket. I have however refrained from putting anything Froggie on the new wheelchair. YET.;)

Now for Teddy,
Yes Hubby was a RAAF man at Amberlery air base. as for putting up with it for 9 years. well it was a case of having too really. Needed the job. In the early days it wasnt too bad (had fully a/c home). but as I got sicker (had other stuff wrong with me) it got harder and then when i was dx in 99 we put in for a Compassionate Posting back to the West (our home state). So we got posted to Pearce in Perth. Very hot there too mind you but the humidity is easier to handle than Ipswich.

Also had fully a/c home there as well, thanks to Defence Housing.

Then when things got even worse for me was when hubby resigned to be full care and the RAAF moved us down here, our home town. and the Govt housing dept (homewest) gave us a brand new disability home so we are settled here now and will be till the end.

You Know, I gave my hubby a go in Race Car a few years ago also. Gee we must be loving wives heh! :D

I assume you went to Willowback raceway yes?

Love always

Thanks Tracey!

I remember how those large toads greeted me at the doorway... on the stairwell... along the paths . . they had become quite the nuisance. :p They can actually be quite cute ~ when they are squashed on the road with their legs spread out on each side.

I liked the gecko's, but WOW can the spiders & cockroaches grow HUGE!! I swear some types of spiders would stick their tongue out at you when you went to swack them.:p

Those were the days of "big hair" too (lots of hairspray) and I recall the cockroaches flying head on into that tangled web, and having quite the time getting them out. Ewwww....!

I have so many awesome memories of my time there. You have a wonderful country (loved Alice Springs to Darwin too!), great wine, and sense of humor that doesn't quit!

Hi Tracey, yep, we went to Willowbank. I'm still recovering from it even now... :o Quite a noisy experience, isn't it? My hubby kept pointing out to me that the heat and flies we experienced there on Saturday were nothing compared to what he experienced when he went to a car show there last Feb. Phew, I am glad I didn't go with him that day!

I'm glad that you seem to be so well looked after by the defence force and your state housing authority. With all you've got going on, that must be such a relief!

And btw, I agree, the best position for a cane toad, in my opinion, is squashed flat on the road... Swerving in one's car to run over cane toads is actually Queensland's state sport. :D

Has anyone ever seen the film/documentary "Cane Toads"? Hilarious.

Heh after a whie you get used to the toads. They don't seem as plague-like in numbers around Cairns as they used to for some reason.

Feel like crap today. Sucks :p

Yep. a Good Cabe Toad is a squashed one.

We use to use cricket bats to whack them with.

Hey Macca, the reason you dont seem to see as many is probably coz they are heading over this way.

Yes Cherie we do have a Lovely country. Well I think so anyway.

No I havnt seen the Docu Teddy. Maybe I should. Um I think I should also clear something up that you mentioned. YES we were in the Defence Force and when we were they were absolutely wondeful to hubby. Gave him time off when it was needed etc without any hassle but he QUIT the forces 5 years ago to be my full time Carer. and it is NOW that we are in Govt Housing and living on Disability and Carer's Pensions. BUT YES the RAAF were great to us and NOW our Housing Manager is wonderful to us, anything I want dont to this house he is pretty quick off the mark to help out.

Love to all
Tracey
Bit like macca, feel like crap. In fact have been pretty shi*ty for over a week now. Back to bed for me. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Well good. We had too many bloody toads today.

Started my multivitamins yesterday, I seem to have a bit more shazam through the day.

Which is nice.
