Hi All,
My question is: If I am collecting SSDI and my husband retires early and starts collecting regular SS, does mine change to regular SS and I get half of his amount, or do I continue to collect as a disabled person at my amount?

I am younger than he is and permanently disabled. He is fine. Do I stay a disabled recipient forever or only until I turn the age to collect my own normal SS?

I hope I got my question out right? Anyone know? Anyone have any changes in their SSDI at spouse's or regular retirement age? Confusing myself. Thanks for any help!

No your amount stays the same. Even at retirement age yours stays the same. And when your husband retires you get nothing from him .Yours stays the same . Each January of course you get alitte raise (not much)

Thank you roz. Are you absolutely sure about this? I have decisions to make that will be affected by the answer.:) I really appreciated you answering me right away. I am on the MS forum.

Your SSDI is based on your work history and your husband's on his.

Your SSDI will remain the same and when you reach retirement age, your SSDI, at the same amount, will then be regular SS Retirement Income. No change except in the title of that income.

Jessica thanks to you too for spending your time to reply. It gets rather confusing. I thought my SSDI amount would change to part of my husband's normal SS when I became of retirement age.:)
