Hi
I am new to this community and was wondering if someone could offer support. My mom just had a SAH at the age of 63. It was a very large one and she spent one month in ICU with pulmonary embolism, hydrocephalus, vasospasms, and a heartattack. SHe has now spent one week in rehab and they feel she is doing well physically but has quite a bit of cognitive impairment. I am so worried for her- she was otherwise so healthy and this has come to such a surprise to all of us. Can anyone tell me if the confusion is to be expected and how long before that improves? She did have frontal lobe damage that seems to be improving but she constantly needs to be reoriented to what has happened to her and where she is. SHe recognizes people but will have a very confused conversation. I miss my old mom and hope and pray she comes back to us. I know it can be a long road but can someone please tell me if there is light at the end of this nightmarish tunnel? Thank you so much.
