I called my bank yesterday to see if I was overdrawn with my checking account, and the lady was like, "Well, should you be overdrawn? Your balance is $XX,459." And I was like..."No, that's not my account, you must be looking at the wrong one."

Then she said that I had a deposit from SSA yesterday morning for $XX,000. Yaaa!!! I was told that it would be probably the end of the month before I saw the rest of my back pay, but obviously they got my stuff done faster than they thought it would be. The XX's are because I'm really leary about posting an actual amount on the internet, but you get the idea.

Although I've already spent more than half of it on bills, it is so nice to finally be able to pay off the creditors that keep calling. There are things that I need to get for my daughter, but I just didn't have the money, so it's an awesome feeling now that I can do what I need to, like buy her a new winter coat and a bed since hers is broke.

I thought that I would never win my case the way it was going, and I almost gave up, but now I am so very glad that I stuck with it, and didn't.

I wish you all the best of luck with your SSA, and I hope that you get approved and can have the same feeling that I'm having right now. And hopefully for you it won't take three and half years like it did me. Even if it does take a long time, don't give up. It can happen.

Bless you. I have read your story. Our system is broke, and people like you shouldn't have to fight so hard and to think that you almost gave up!!
Bless you and your family!

Angel I was wondering if you have any trouble due to your Hepatitis? I recieved hep b from a blood transfusion in 1986 but I didnt even list it on my disability paperwork because I never got sick from it. I still have it but it doesnt bother me. Should I have put it down? Brian

Brian, I was told to list everything that was wrong with me rather it related directly to my disability or not.

Brian, I was even asked about high chloresterol..amongst other medical issues. The application taker at ss was very thorough.
I would request that information be added to your application.

hello Fallen Angel-
I just won my SSI after starting it the end of 03! denied 2x lost paper work off then the case work quit and never submitted mine again- I got a lawyer and finally I won- It was worth all that we paid her by law she can only take a % up to 5,500. well she got her 5,500. and though I had ever Dr's not from day one it was still worth her walking into court with me. I really feel its the only way I would have won- I think it was cause they didn't know was Trigeminal was but all in all I needed the help & though I have good insurance I max the medication part out 4 months into it till I hit a very high deductable I look around at so many that are on it and say "how" you know their not & are working either by babysitting or under the table and some times I can't even care for my own two children never mind the house So Im so glad you won. I just don't know what to do with the retro $$ I would like it locked away for now in maybe one of the childrens names I just don't know how to go about this So I haven't cashed the check yet? I really didn't want anyone to know about it mainly my husband who is gone more then here? do you know if he has to know how much and where I can hide it from him Im afraid he'll spend it on me and I'll be where I am not without very much?
thanks ~lori
